  2. Magnify? Read Jacob 1:17-19; 2:2-3, 9-11 and complete this statement using phrases borrowed from the scriptures: People who magnify their callings… Ponder the use of the word ‘magnify’ when used with regard to callings while you do this exercise and be ready to explain its use. Consider a time when somebody ‘magnified’ their calling and it blessed your life

  4. Does God want us to be rich? Study Jacob 2:12-21 with a buddy and look for the answer to this question. Use these verses and any other scriptures you can find(you may want to look up ‘riches’ in the topical guide) to come up with a list of principles that should govern our attitudes about riches. Discuss it with a buddy.

  6. Grosser Crimes (Jacob 2:22-35; 3:3-7) “God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between a man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife” (Proclamation on the Family, Ensign, 11/1995, 102). “Before marriage, do not do anything to arouse the powerful emotions that must be expressed only in marriage. Do not participate in kissing, lie on top of another person, or touch the private, sacred parts of another person’s body, with or without clothing. Do not allow anyone to do that with you. Do not arouse those emotions in your own body” (For the Strength of Youth, [2001], 27).

  7. Grosser Crimes (Jacob 2:22-35; 3:3-7) Jacob spoke about the “mournings of the daughters of my people” (31) and the “sobbings of their hearts” (35). What are the daughters of God mourning and sobbing about today? President Hinckley- A Tragic Evil among Us

  8. Grosser crimes (Jacob 2:22-35, 3:3-7) “Men, take care not to make women weep, for God counts their tears” (Thomas S. Monson, “That We May Touch Heaven,” Ensign, Nov 1990, 45).
