  2. Check and Re-check! • Number of Credits • Required Courses • Qualifications for Honors & Seals • GHSGT requirements

  3. Number of Credits You must have a minimum of 23 credits to receive a diploma from Douglas County School System.

  4. Required Courses • 4 credits of English (one must be American Lit) • 4 credits of Math • 4 credits of Science • 3 credits of Social Studies (4 courses) • ½ credit Health and ½ credit Personal Fitness • 3 Elective credits from CTAE, Fine Arts or Foreign Language

  6. Foreign Language Alert! • Foreign Language is no longer required for graduation. • 2 and 4 year colleges still require 2 credits of the same foreign language for admissions.

  7. Honors • Honor Grad • 3.75 cumulative GPA • No F’s • Maximum credits • 5 academic courses Senior year • 2 credits of Foreign Language • Board Scholar • 3.5 cumulative GPA • No F’s • Maximum credits • 1 extra academic course + 2 Foreign Language

Seals • Fine Arts • 4 credits (Band, Visual Arts, Chorus or Drama) • 2 credits must be from same discipline • Foreign Language - 4 credits of the same foreign language • Academic Seal • 3 Advanced Placement (AP) or Dual Enrollment credits • 3 Certificate completions from technical school dual enrollment program

  9. GHSGT vs. EOCT • You must pass the Writing section of the GHSGT AND • You must pass all 4 subject tests of the GHSGT OR • Pass a corresponding subject area EOCT to exempt that subject of the GHSGT

  11. Mark Your Calendar! • Sept 17 – PROBE College Fair – Arbor Place Mall • Sept 20 – Senior Parent Night • Oct 6 – SAT @ DCHS • Oct 15 – UGA Early Decision deadline • Nov 15 – ASVAB @CHHS • Nov 3 – SAT @ CHHS • Nov 14 – Apply To College Day @ CHHS

  12. Sign and Date It! • Sign your Credit Summary. • Let your counselor know if you have any questions/concerns (blue forms).

WALKER in the CAREER CENTER • *Register now for the fall SAT/ACT's • *Waivers (Test/college Application) • * Transcripts • * College visitation days • *Apply to 3-5 schools by Christmas break (online ) • * Probe Fair (9/17/2012) at Arbor Place / Register for barcode • *Apply to College Day (11/14/2012) / Sign up during senior advisement on 9/25. • *Scholarships (Newsletter, CHHS Website, in CCC) • DO NOT WAIT / HAVE A PLAN (and backup plan)!!
