  1. WELCOME VISITORS – You are our Honored Guests Members - You are Greatly Appreciated.

  2. BEHOLD I THOUGHT” II KINGS 5:11  But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of Jehovah his God, and wave his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

  3. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” • Isaiah 55: 6 – 9 • 6Seek ye Jehovah while he may be found; call ye upon him while he is near:  7let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts;and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

  4. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” • Have you ever had a special project that you had spent time – hours - figuring out how you wanted to tackle it, you calculated all the steps, worked out all the plans and then as all is going well someone observing, but not knowing, the whole story decides (without being asked) to put their “2 cents” in? And then they get all upset when you don’t listen to their “advise”, and more upset when you tell them that is not what you had in mind, “Well I Just Thought….” They Say.

  5. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” 2. Mankind thinks a great deal of him/her self at times. 3. If we are truthful, there is not a man or woman alive that doesn’t like to interject their “I think” or “I thought” into situations, and frankly, many times when it was not invited nor serves in a positive manner. 4. I run into this all time when providing counseling for couples, the friends and family that just have to get their “think so” into the mix. “Arm chair degrees” we call them.

  6. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” 5. Yes - Mankind thinks a great deal of him/her self at times. Sometimes “we THINK we know” morethan God.

  7. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” • His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. ISAIAH 55:8-9 “8. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah. 9. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. “ (KJV)

  8. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” • II KINGS 5: 1-14 The pagan general, Naaman, sought a cure of leprosy from God's prophet. When the prophet did not meet his expectations, he angrily said, "Behold, I thought that he would surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper" (2 Kings 5:11). Naaman'snotion (Thought) about what God should do was firmly fixed. • Let the utter arrogance of his attitude sink in, then try to fathom the gall of a man taking offense at God's directive and stomping off in a huff. • We see so many people do the same thing all the time. They decide how God should act, what He should say, and what He should do and accept what we want to give to Him. • If their expectations are not met, God's will is brazenly rejected. Religion is modified to suit human fancy and presented to the Lord with a "take it or leave it" attitude. (Shades of Cain.)

  9. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” Genesis 4: 1- 7 • While the Bible is not exactly clear what it was about Cain’s Sacrifice that was not acceptable he did something that was “not right”. He apparently “thought differently” by his attitude and so much so that he kills his brother over the situation. • Cain offered an unacceptable sacrifice – (form of worship) – that was not what God had intended, commanded and even provided examples of in the Bible – His Word.

  10. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” • God “spoke” the Father’s during the “Patriarchal” dispensation (Gen 46:2 -Hebrews 1:1) and we have record, examples, of animal sacrifices not necessarily crops until the giving of the law on Sinai. • Able, Noah (8:20), Abraham (22:2), Moses (Lev.1:1-3), Job (Job 1:5), etc.

  11. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” Leviticus 10:1-3 • Nadab and Abihu. They thought they were doing good, they are all rejoicing regarding the beginning of the Priestly duties of their tribe. (Chapter 9) • From Chapter 1 – Chapter 9 God has been very specific in the means and ways of the offering of sacrifices, what, when, and who.

  12. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” Note the elements of the story - Lev. 10: 1-3

  13. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” JONAH: Chapter 1:3-5 • Jonah thoughthe could escape his responsibility • Thought he could hide from God. • Thought he was safe and could go to sleep.

  14. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” MATTHEW 17:1-5 1. Peter has already been told by Christ that He would build His Church - Matthew 16:18 2. In this passage Christ is Transfigured to His Glorified state as He will be after His death, Burial and Resurrection. 3. Moses and Elijah appear with Christ - Vs. 3 4. Peter “thinks” that it would be good to build 3 Tabernacles of Worship - Vs. 4

  15. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” • While Peter is still speaking God has something to say; “While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased;. hear ye him .” - Vs. 5 • God does not want us listening to or following or worshipping anyone but His Son. I Corinthians 1:10, 12, 13

  16. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” ACTS 26:9 -11 Paul thought he was doing right. “I verily thought with myself that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.” • Thought he should persecute the Church • Thought he was pleasing God.

  17. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” PROVERBS 14:12 “There is a way which seems right unto a man; But the end thereof are the ways of death.” • Not all things are scriptural or are approved of by God, but some THINK that they are because it just “feels good, sounds good, looks good, makes them fell better. (REMEMBER Nadab and Abihu) 2. Some think that Emersionis NOT the only form of acceptable Baptism - Galatians 3:27, Acts 8:38

  18. “BEHOLD I THOUGHT” 3. Some think that there is more than One Church, one Body, One Lord, One Baptism. Matt. 16:18, Ephesians 4:4-5 4. Some think that Everyone will go to Heaven Matthew 7:13-14, Matthew 25:46 5. Some think that there is a “second chance” Matthew 25:46, Revelation 20:15- 21:8 6. Some think that there is plenty of time to be saved. II Peter 3:9-10 7. Some Think You don’t need to be baptized in order to be saved. Acts 2:38, 22:16, I Peter 3:21

  19. Conclusion PROVERBS 14:12 “There is a way which seems right unto a man; But the end thereof are the ways of death.” • God lives and thinks at a different level than we. • He does not adjust His way to meet our way, or His “Thoughts” to agree with our “thoughts” - it is the other way around. • So He tells us “THINK ON THESE THINGS” (KJV) PHIL. 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things [are] noble, whatever things [are] just, whatever things [are] pure, whatever things [are] lovely, whatever things [are] of good report, if [there is] any virtue and if [there is] anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things. “ Colossians 3:12 “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
