  2. Territorial Agenda of the EU 2020 • Territorial cohesion as common goal “The territory is founding the state but territorial cohesion is founding a community” • EU 2020 strategy – territorial dimension of the strategy - social cohesion - economic cohesion - territorial cohesion

  3. Territorial cohesion “The EU has to offer to his citizens equal chances in terms of conditions of living and quality of life, wherever they are living” … and this, through cooperation between all actors and all participants to development (Territorial Agenda)

Making EU territorial cohesion a reality “more and more, competitiveness and prosperity are linked to the capacity of people and firms to take advantage of their territories” (European Commission) • Diversity of the EU territory – vital advantage cooperation – coordination - partnership • Three major axes: - general interest services - connection of territories through services - cooperation at different levels

  5. What role for regionalisms? • Place-based approach to policy making • Democracy. Why ? • …? • Diversity of territories as potential for development • Mobilizing other factors of development.
