  2. Taxis in Holland • Total amount of taxi-companies : 5.400 • Individual entrepreneurs : 3.700 • Companies with employees : 1.700 • Yearly turnover : € 1.1 00 mln. • Taxi (with taximeter) : 28% • Taxi (without taximeter=contract) : 72%

Developments in Taxi-market • New regulations in taxi-law in 2000 • Open market - no capacity rules • Many new companies • Hard struggle for the customer • Disturbing public peace in cities • Low prices - bad output • Dutch department of Transport recognizes the problems • Engagement to Taxi-branche for regulation on quality • 2004: TX-KEUR starts

Short revieuw of TX-KEUR • 2004 - KNV-Taxi (employers organisation) • Regulations based on ISO = system-certification • Certification-companies are leading • 2006 - independant foundation • 2007 - system-certification changes in product-certification • TX-KEUR takes more responsibility • 2008 - introducing unexpected check-up through the year and mistery-guests • 2009 - TX-KEUR gives and withdraws the TX-Keur-qualitymark

  5. Regulations of TX-KEUR • Yearly inspection - age and condition of vehicles - servicelevel - code of conduct (personal care-etiquette) - no violations Traffice Inspection Authority - documents - insurances - connected with National Complaints Centre

  6. Results of introducing TX-KEUR • City goverments use TX-Keur solving the problems of public peace: - pick-up areas and public transport lines are only accessable for TX-Keur Amsterdam – Rotterdam- Eindhoven (couleur locale) • Contracts pay more (3%) when taxi-companies have TX-Keur

Challenges and opportunities • TX-Keur regulates taxi-market • TX-Keur improves quality of taxi-product • Investigation shows more satisfied customers • TX-keur gives higher profit • TX-keur is dynamic, constantly searching for better regulations to improve quality • TX-Keur level will increase in the future

Weakness and threaths • Taxi-companies don’t like to be put in a system • Individual wishes and all kind of reasons in order to ignore the rules • Variousity in different kind of companies- one schema for all (0 employees untill 5000) • The HAVE TO, but they don’t WANT to • Intensive controle-system • Yearly costs

  9. Conclusions Only relevant issue is teh vision of the customer No quality mark without any pression of local governments and principals No quality mark without intensive controle-system TX-Keur increases the service level
