  2. Welcome • Welcome and thank you for coming! • Today we will be learning several helpful ways to integrate United Streaming into your classroom.

  3. Objectives • In this course we will learn: • how to login. • how to search by keyword, subject, grade, curriculum standard. • how to review search results. • how to stream and download videos. • how the “My Content” feature can help organize your videos. • what programs United Streaming can be integrated into. • how to hyperlink a video in PPT. • how to embed a video in PPT.

  4. Logging in • Go to www.unitedstreaming.com • The first time, you will have to enter the Passcode (DC71-10E8) in the “NEW USER” section. • Click the mouse and the orange box will move from the New User section to the “LOG IN” section. • Set up a unique user name and password.

  5. Search features • In United Streaming you can search by • Keyword • Subject • Grade • Curriculum standards • In the Advanced Search you can search for videos that are -editable -Closed Captioned -in Spanish

  6. Search Results • Full videos show up in the main results area. • Other media types are listed on the left side of the screen • Information shown • Title, run time, description, grade range, accompanying resources like Teacher’s Guides, Blackline Masters.

  7. Streaming & Downloading • Click on video title. • To stream: • Press the play button • For full screen, press the icon under the blue play button • To download (recommended): • Right click on the download icon (floppy disk) next to the segment or full title you want to download. • Select “Save Target As” • Save to a location you can find it. (folder on desktop recommended) United Streaming videos

My Content • With this feature you can • Collect, organize, share and retrieve your favorite United Streaming content. • To add a video: • Go to the video’s main page • Under the segment listing, click the blue ADD button next to “Add to My Content”. • To access My Content: • Click on the My Content link near the top of the page

  9. Integration Techniques • United Streaming videos can be integrated into • PowerPoint • Inspiration • Google Earth • CPS lessons • SmartBoard lessons • What ideas do you have on integrating videos into your lessons?

  10. Hyperlinking a video in PPT • 1. Download a video to a designated folder • 2. Create a new PPT and save it to the same folder • 3. Highlight the text/select the picture that you want to be the hyperlink • 4. Go to Insert and then Hyperlink • 5. Click “Browse for File”, click “Select” • 6. Select the correct file and click OK • 7. Test your hyperlink. Must be in “Slide Show” view to test the link. • 8. Make sure to cite the video

Embedding a video in PPT • Download video to a designated folder. • Create a new PPT and save it to the same folder. • Go to Insert, Movies & Sounds, Movie from File. • Select the correct file, click OK. • Decide if the video should play automatically. • Test it out in Slide Show view. • Make sure you cite the video!

  12. Closing • There are many ways to incorporate United Streaming into your lessons. • Videos are an important component of your lessons because they reach visual as well as auditory learners. Kinesthetic learners may also benefit with added activities.
