  2. What is dialogue? • Dialogue is a conversation (talking) between two or more characters in a piece of writing.

  3. Why use it? • Dialogue helps a writer explain what happens in their writing • Dialogue helps readers visualize (see)c haracters and better understand them

  4. How do we show dialogue? • We show dialogue by using quotation marks around what the character says. • Example: The gingerbread boy yelled,“Run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!”
