  1. Do Now: Top of Page 78 • One day at school you notice a huge ring of students jostling and pushing. As you get closer, you hear some of the students yelling, “Fight!” Like the rest you want to see what is happening. Finally finding a vantage point, you see two students threatening each other. One is a good friend; the other is a former friend and current enemy who owes you money. What vocabulary word from the sheet you were given on the way into class does each option represent? • Turn away and leave because the fight does not involve you and getting involved will only mean trouble. • Get into the fight on your friend’s side and punch out the former friend who owes you money since he deserves it. • Punch out both students to show the rest of the school who is the toughest kid on campus.

  3. Objective • Our goal today is to be able to place the United States’ response to events leading up to World War II on a foreign policy spectrum and to defend the placements. You will need to be able to define the foreign policy terms isolationism, interventionism, and imperialism.

OPTIC Round Robin • Each group will have 6 minutes with their image. • Fill out the OPTIC graphic organizer and write a summary of the event under “What Really Happened” using your reading from last night. • Pass the images the same way we did with the Dorothea Lange photos of the Great Depression.
