Possible Intern Tasks • AP testing, prep and testing • Collect and organize acceptance letters • Collect and organize scholarship letters • Counselor/Admin Graduation meetings • Diploma distribution following graduation • Financial Aid Night • Graduation, prep and/or attendance • Half Cap ceremony • Incoming Freshmen Night • Next year scheduling • PSAE testing, prep and testing • Semester 1 Honors display • Senior Final Checklist forms for the District • Senior notification follow-ups • Summer school apps and enrollment • TR College Fair SEMSETER TWO

Possible Intern Tasks • Anecdotal follow-ups • Class meetings and presentations • Counselor Department meeting attendance • Graduation credit status letters to all • IEP shadowing • Letters of recommendation • Meeting individuals, general counseling • Meeting multiple failure list • New student enrollments • Notifying interested students of college visitors • Parent-Teacher Conferences • Process transcript requests • Recovery set ups, applications, enrollment • Senior notifications • Updating 4 year cards/plans, credit checks • Website update reviews • Work with various counselors to see different styles BOTH SEMESTERS

Counselors/Interns will be expected to have sufficient knowledge and experience in the following areas: • Athletic recruiting, eligibility, scholarships • Career exploration • Character building • College application process • Community resources • Crisis counseling • Diversity awareness • Financial aid/Scholarships • General Psychology • Grief counseling • Group counseling • Health and Wellness • Individual counseling • School/Guidance policies • Standardized testing • State education laws • Study skills KNOWLEDGE AREAS

The following are the some of the various student types of which Counselors/Interns must have a general working knowledge: • Adopted • AP/Honors level • Athletes • At-risk • Behavioral issues • Class years • Co-ed • College-bound • College Prep level • Ethnic diversities • Failing academics • First generation college-bound • Homebound • Independent • Learning Disabilities • Low-income • Low self-esteem • Medical issues • Minorities • Orphan • Physical Disabilities • Probation • Reclassified • Religious diversities • Sexuality – straight, gay, • lesbian, bisexual, asexual, transgender • Single family home • Transfers • Undocumented • Ward of the State KNOWLEDGE AREAS

RECORDS- Maintain student records/files, bulletin boards, college applications, college and career resources, and the Guidance web site • RESOURCES - Provide students with presentations, events, general information and individualized planning regarding: academics, study skills, testing, college, jobs, careers, extracurricular activities, scholarships, financial aid, personal character, life issues, and volunteerism. • RELATIONSHIPS - Coordinate efforts and strengthen communication with parents, teachers, coaches, moderators, the dean and the athletic director to monitor and support student progress and success throughout high school and into post-secondary options, while assisting students with academic and personal growth GENERAL GOALS
