Mission Statement • “ To promote benefits for the people of the Loughshore area through enhanced partnership working with: • Statutory authorities • Community and voluntary organisations • Local people and businesses in the area … • … to advance economic development and to provide social welfare facilities linked with health, recreation and leisure time activities, with the object of improving conditions of life for local people”

  3. Aims • To develop locally based services consistent with the needs of older people living in the Loughshore area and focused on improving their quality of life • To initiate a project similar to the Lakeland Community Care Initiative in Fermanagh which will provide care, support facilities, leisure and educational services for older people alongside generating locally based employment • To secure funding to advance training, education and the employment of staff and premises to facilitate the provision of these locally based services

Achievements • Establishment of Three Supported Day Care Facilities • Over Thirty Volunteers Recruited & Trained • Seventy Older People Supported on a Weekly Basis • Provision of Locally Based Health Promotion and Social Care Services has contributed to the reduction of social exclusion felt by older people • Intergenerational Work Facilitated • Provision of Suitably Adapted Transport

Impact • Locally based health and social care services provided for older people along the southern shores of Lough Neagh • Community activity enhanced within and between rural communities through the use of underutilised facilities • Training and support provided to volunteers helps rural communities to help themselves by addressing local need • Contribution made to the long term sustainability of locally based service provision for older people though a Service Level Agreement with Craigavon & Banbridge Community HSS Trust

Benefits • Improved Social Interaction & Inclusion • Increased Independence • User Led Activity Programmes • Health Promotion Opportunities Facilitated • Improvements in Family Relationships • Funding levered in to support additional activities undertaken by local groups in Aghagallon, the Birches, Maghery and Derrytrasna
