What is the Leonardo Project? • The Leonardo da Vinci programme is a European Commission funding programme focused on the teaching and training needs of those involved in vocational education and training (VET). The programme is part of the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme 2007-2013and aims to build a skilled and mobile workforce across Europe.

  3. Whenwasitcreated? • The Leonardo da Vinci programme was started in 1995. • A second, broader phase (Leonardo II 2000-2006) concentrated on skills and employability of young people. Of the 21,000 projects financed in this phase, 19,000 had to do with mobility, supporting 367,000 individuals. The budget was €1.45 billion. Phase II was evaluated for the Directorate General for Education and Culture of the European Commission in 2008. • In 2007 a new programme was started, to run until 2013.

  4. Objective • Support participants in training and further training in the acquisition and use of knowledge, skills and qualifications to facilitate personal development . • Increasing the attractiveness of vocational training and mobility for people and facilitate the mobility of working trainees. • Support improvements in the quality and innovation of systems, institutions and practices in education and training.

  5. Whoisitfor? • (IVT) Initial Vocational Training: Individuals who are receiving initial training. • (PLM) People in the Labour Market: People who have already achieved a level of professional training and / or education and in the labor market, both on active duty as unemployed. • (VETPRO) Vocational Education and Training Professionals: Persons responsible for training and / or human resources.

  6. How long is the project? • IVT: Least 2 weeks Maximum 39 weeks • PLM: Least 2 weeks Maximum 26 weeks • VETPRO: Minimum 1 week Maximum 6 weeks

  8. What expenses does it cover? • The scholarship is to aid the participant to cover travel expenses, meals, cultural, educational and linguistic preparation and safe in the country.
