THE PROJECT- • The PROJECT SOLARIS is a recognized student-faculty run • research project at Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi • College of Engineering). • Initiated in the year 2006, the Project aims at developing a highly • efficient solar vehicle and to provide a breakthrough in Solar • Technology. • Fuelled by its members’ passion for environment friendly and • sustainable technology, the team is dedicated to encourage the use • of Solar Technology to meet the energy requirements. • Promoting ‘green and clean’ energy, the team participates in • seminars and conferences dedicated to alternate energy to create • awareness and to bring together environment and technology

AIMS OF THE PROJECT- • • Create an awakening in the country about solar technology. • • Develop technical skills of the Indian engineering students by sharing • with them the technical knowhow and the practical experience. • • Develop management skills, both human and resource management • apart from ability to work as a team. • • Develop technical skills in the field of solar technology, dynamics, • machine design, automobile design etc. • Develop easily available and economical technology. • Represent India on a world platform at The World Solar Challenge • to be held in Australia. • • Utilize solar power to cross the speed barrier of 100 kmph.

ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR- • Credited with developing India’s First Solar Car in 2006. • The 2008 Solar Car was put on display at the Akshay • Urja Divas organized by MNRE and at the Auto Expo. • The 2008 Solar Car had a successful stint at The South • African Solar Challenge. • Solaris isIndia’s leading project in the field of Solar Car • development.

  8. THE SUN CAR @ AUTO EXPO THE STUDENTS OF DELHI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING PROUDLY PRESENTED THE FIRST SOLAR CAR OF INDIA AT THE AUTO EXPO.

  9. THE EVENT- The World Solar Challenge, Australia 2011 is an epic, two-week race where solar-powered cars run through the length and breadth of Australia. Teams design and build their own engineering systems and race those same machines on a 3000km long track running through the most demanding terrain that solar cars have ever seen. The Challenge aims at encouraging the use of renewable sources of energy. It is truly a unique adventure, with teams from all over the world competing to get better and better.
