The origin of Cantonese • 在正式介紹粵語之前，首先要談一下廣東三大主要方言。它們包括「廣東話」、「客家話」 及「閩南話」，而其中又以廣東話為主流。一般稱為「粵語」，不過在習慣上叫「廣東話」，另外又可稱為「廣府話」或「白話」。廣東話是廣東、廣西大部分地區、港澳地區以及海外華人社區的主要交流語言，目前全球使用粵語的人口達 7000萬，在經濟社會生活中佔據重要地位。 • 粵語源自戰國的楚語，時百越為楚所治，楚語由兩湖傳入廣東，其後逐漸發展。一般比較公認的說法是以粵語近於隋唐語言。廣東一直以來是中國一個主要港口之一，尤以明清兩代，歐洲人利用新航路來華漸多，廣東對外接觸日趨頻繁，受外來文化影響不斷增加，重要性也日益提高。隨著港澳地區發展，港澳地區的粵語也逐漸成為主流，亦成為了港澳地區的母語。

  6. Scene #1 • Ahey: 你好！依度係NSLab，請問你想搵邊位呢？ (nei ho! Yi dou hait nslab, cing man nei soeng weng bing wait) • XXX: 唔該我想搵張庭豪先生。 (ng goi ngo soeng weng juon ting hou sin sang) • Ahey: 佢唔係度喎。 (keoi ng hait dou wo)

  7. XXX: 吓，但喺我有急事搵佢。 (ha, dan hait ngo yao gup xi weng kuoi) • Ahey: 咁我俾你佢既手提:0912345678 (gum ngo bei nei keoi ge xao tait: neng gau jat ji sam sei ng luk qup bat ) • XXX: 唔該晒你 (ng goi sai nei) • Ahey: 唔使客氣 (ng sai hak hei)

  8. Um…It seems to be too easy Let’s Upgrade! If you can repeat the dialogue in Cantonese, then you will be given a prize!

  9. Scene #2 • ChengYing: 聽日係芃姐牛一哦，不如我地先去打邊爐，再殺上佢屋企慶祝。 (ting jat hait 芃 ze ngao jat o , bat yu ngo dei sin heoi da bing lou, zoi sa suan keoi ou kei hing zuo) • Gotop: Good idea!但喺係佢屋企做乜好？ (Good idea! dan hait hait keoi ou kei zuo mat hou)

  10. SY: 可以去吹水劈酒啊！ (huo yi heoi zuoi xuoi pat zau a) • Steven: 我想挫大Di。 (ngo soeng zuo dai di) • ChengYinng: 唔，一於咁話喇！ (mg, jat yu gum wa la) • Abon: 各位既好意我心領，但喺我既牛一喺琴日唔係聽日囉…… (guo wei ge ho yi ngo xum leng, dan hait ngo ge ngao jat hait kum ngi hait ting jat lo)

  11. Conclusions • Sorry that I don’t think there can be a conclusion ~~~ • But to be frank with you, I don’t think Cantonese is an easy dialect and at least it is as difficult as 台語. • Here is two movie clips of “麥兜的故事”. Hope that you will enjoy it ^^”
