  2. What do you Think the Word Impeachment Means? • The word Impeachment means “A formal document charging a public official with misconduct in office” which is what Andrew Johnson was charged with by the House of Representatives.

  3. What Did Johnson do to be Impeached? • The variety of things Johnson did to be impeached was he vetoed so many bills that congress proposed, so they concluded he was over using his power. Also he was being unfair and favoring the southern confederates over the northern republicans. So they decided to impeach him.

  4. When was Johnson Impeached? • On the date of November 24, 1868 Johnson was impeached by the house of representatives. Although, it wasn’t till the date of March 13, 1869 when President Johnson had his actual trial to decide what his punishment would be and how long it would take place.

  5. How Many Votes Away was Johnson From Being Kicked out of Office? • President Andrew Johnson went to trial on March 13,1869, and the trial ended may 26, 1869. This is when Johnson would find out whether or not he would be kicked out of office- or any other type of punishment he could receive.

  6. Andrew Johnson Impeachment: What Happened Afterwards • After president Johnson was impeached, went through trial, and found out he was not getting kicked out of office, he continued his presidency. Although it didn’t last very long- as he only served one term in office before he was not reelected. So as you can see, many people did not like him as their president.
