  26. Food Mon-Fri – breakfast in hotel is provided (very yummy!) Lunch and Dinner– you buy your own out of your daily allowance. We snack lunch together then in the evenings you go in groups of 4+ to any restaurant you like. A few basic words of Italian will help when ordering food! A phrase book is handy but pointing is pretty effective too! You will need spending money to buy one snack meal at Gatwick on the journey out, but we will be fed on the plane, and then we will go for a meal together on the first evening. Any Vegetarians/Vegans etc. Please let me know

  27. Money You will be given 30 Euros per day each for food and drinks. How you spend it is up to you. The only other money you will need will be if any of you might want to go shopping……? The area is famous for Lemon products and of course pasta etc, and there are lots of lovely souvenir shops to browse around. We have plenty of time to look around before dinner each day. Your personal spending money is your responsibility so… Remember security Bring a bag that can be properly closed Don’t show your money to others

  28. What to pack You have been given a kit list. Please read it BEFORE you start packing. The really important items are in bold. BLISTER PLASTERS!! These were in huge demand last year. Let us know if you will be carrying any specific medications We will have general first aid kits with us YOU have to carry whatever you bring so pack light! Are there items you could share between your room mates? Shampoo, toiletries etc. Pack in main suitcase. Hairdryers are in most bathrooms Remember to be respectable in the way you dress and not draw attention – this is all part of staying safe. If we think you do not look respectable you will be asked to change!

  29. Swimming Our hotel has lift access to a private beach Safe roped off swimming area and a swimming platform There may be sea urchins so water shoes are a good idea. Flip flops may do. Mask/snorkel/fins? No-one is to go down to the beach without a member of staff being present and you must let us know when you arrive and leave Always make sure someone knows if you want to go down There are sunbeds but there is a charge. Take a beach towel! Stay in groups, leave valuables in your room

  30. Relaxing in the sea Just the thing after a hard day……!

  31. Mobile Phones A mobile phone is very useful but please consider the following….. These are NOT covered by the school insurance and so are taken at your own risk. Why not see if you have an old one at home which you could put your sim card in? Must roam. TURN OFF MOBILE DATA. The costs for this can be very expensive. Check with your mobile supplier and your parents in advance. There is a computer with internet access at the hotel, which anyone can use FOC Don’t call home to complain, speak to us!

  32. Personal safety Groups of AT LEAST 4 Mobile phone per group if possible Cards with teacher contacts Water, sun cream, hat Remember your Code of conduct Meeting points and times. Remember, being out in the evening is a privilege and we expect you to respect the meeting times we give you. Get used to your muster groups for regular head counts

  33. Respect We want all students on the trip to feel happy … Respect each other, we are together for 6 days! Include people – check that no-one is being isolated Make sure others are safe and happy Think before you speak Report any bullying to staff Please talk to us first if you are worried about anything at all Be polite in restaurants/shops etc. Per Favore + Grazie!

  34. And finally…. The school has requested that we produce a record of the trip for future publications and we will need at least two of you to become our “Activities Week Reporters”. This will involve writing a short report with a selection of photos, and it would be nice to have some input from every single person…at least one memorable photo please! I will help co-ordinate it. Please see me if you would like to be considered as a budding journalist!

  35. Quotes from 2012 • “I loved the fact that we were so trusted to go into Sorrento alone and it was safe” • “It was fab!” • “My favourite thing was being able to go out for dinner on our own” • “Thank you so much for getting me to do things I would not normally do and helping me face my fears” ( think this involved the chair lift!) • “Thank you all the teachers it was amazing”
