  3. True or false ? WHILE YOU WATCH Are the following statemens TRUE or FALSE? 1. Czech Republic has more university-educated men than university-educated-women. 2. University-educated women probably end up in positions that are not relevant to their education. 3. If we categorize people, the first criterion is our perception of their image. 4. The categories of masculine and feminine have not only different meanings but also different values in Czech society. 5. Gender is a primary constitutive element of social difference. 6.   5. SYMBOLS Make a list of characteristics that you give to someone being ‘female’ and to characteristics to someone being ‘male’. Find symbols you attach to each qualities of being feminine and masculine. AFTER YOU WATCH FEMALE MALE Choose 3 symbols that represent yourself now, and select 3 other symbols that you would like to represent yourself in the future (no matter if they are male or female). Write a short paragraph of what these mean to you. Share in your groups.

SOCIAL DIFFERENCES AFTER YOU WATCH Discuss how social differences between men and women are represented in these categories in Czech culture: INCOME, LIFESTYLE, AGE, APPEARANCE, HEALTH, EDUCATION, JOB, ETHNICITIY, RACE, POPULARITY Discuss how do YOU experience the social differences in these areas?

AFTER YOU WATCH WORK IN SMALL GROUPS AND REACT TO THE FOLLOWING: • Masculine has a more important meaning in Western society. • I don´t care if my friends are boys or girls. • Women are more self-confident than men. • Being masculine means you succeed better in business. • Men are better in jobs where you need to stay cool-headed. Women are too emotional to handle the tough stuff. • Women like to be dominated by a man. • Too much isbeing made outofnothing. Men and women are separate and unequal. • Whenwomenstayhome to raisechildren, they hurt theircareers.
