ABOUT UNIVERSITY Tripura University was established in 1987 in Agartala, Tripura. This University is dedicated to imparting education and becoming a beacon of change in society. This University provides some very interesting courses to its students which lead to social, economic, and educational integration, such as MFA in drawing and painting, M.A. in Sanskrit, MFA in modeling and sculpture, and so on. The main motto of this University is 'Pursuit of excellence. Tripura University has developed programs through the help of which they extend support to the socially backward regions of the society. Also, this University has taken various steps to promote and preserve the state's art forms, folk, oral and ancient traditions. The University has numerous plans for its future, such as an expansion of the campus, providing more girls and boys hostels for its students, improved the canteen, and providing accommodation for its faculty.

HISTORY Maharaja Bir Bikram laid the first foundation of the first college in the lands of Agartala on 7 May 1937. At the University of Calcutta, Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College became the first-degree college to be established in the state in the year of 1947. As time progressed, various other colleges were being affiliated with the Calcutta University. Tripura University initially started as the Post- Graduate Wing of Calcutta University in the year of 1976. However, it turned into a State University in 1987 and ended up becoming a Central University in the year 2007.
RANKING The professors and directors of Tripura University have various achievements and awards in different educational fields such as economics, chemistry, education, history, and so on. Moreover, the professors and directors of Tripura University have also received awards in the fields of zoology, pharmacy, and human physiology. For instance, Dr.A.Nath received 'Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations(ICRIER)- MacArthur Foundation Award in the field of economics. Also, Dr. D.A. INFRASTRUCTURE Library: The Central Library has a rich collection of more than ten thousand books. Additionally, it also has documents, reports, non- print media, and so on. Moreover, it has national and international subscriptions to 141 journals in various fields of interest. The library is using the latest software and technology such as SOUL and INLIBNET to complete its computerization process. Hostel: Tripura University has a boy's hotel within its campus with a total of ninety beds. The University is coming up with a new hostel for hundred people designed especially for research scholars. Common rooms and reading rooms with reading material such as newspapers and magazines are available in both the hostel. Sports Complex: The Tripura University organizes a physical fitness festival for all of its employees and students every year. Various competitions and matches are conducted for university students every year, such as football, cricket, table tennis, athletics, and so on. In addition to this, the college also conducts inter-departmental matches in the field of cricket, football, and volleyball on its ground.
INFRASTRUCTURE Labs: Labs are very important for the practical learning of students. Therefore, Tripura University provides various labs and learning opportunities to its students, such as electronics lab, systems lab, software lab, communication and multimedia lab, and so on. However, these labs are strict to be used under the supervision of a teacher. Cafeteria: Any University needs to provide good quality fresh food to its students so that the students don't have to travel much for food and it becomes convenient for them to eat according to their convenience. Following this ideology, Tripura University has a cafeteria with various cuisines and food choices for all its students and teachers. This cafeteria is open for the whole day with a special cook to cater to students of all needs. Shuttle Service: Tripura University provides shuttle services to all its students and teachers. Due to this facility provided by the University, transportation becomes easier for all the students and faculty.
