  3. About Anti-Poverty Week Anti-Poverty Week is a week where all Australians are encouraged to organise or take part in an activity aiming to highlight or overcome issues of poverty and hardship in Australia or overseas. Anti-Poverty Week is a week when we can all do something about poverty.

  4. The Hidden Need: Poverty in Australia Australians live below the poverty line Australian children live in poverty are homeless on any given night in Aus.

  5. About Anglicare Anglicare is the social justice arm of the Anglican Church. Our aim is to help the most disadvantaged children and families to hope, heal and thrive so they can lead lives free from poverty.

Our Services Anglicare College (up to Cert IV & Diploma level) ESL Training, Retail (Op-Shops), Disaster Recovery Financial Counselling, Gambling Help & NILS Foster Care & Residential Care Disability Services Youth Services, Youth Health, Mentoring & Parenting Support Early Learning, Preschool & Family Day Care School & Church Engagement, Refugee Support Crisis Housing, Emergency Food Relief, Homelessness Support Retirement Living

Our Services – an overview 548 children and young people supported through Anglicare’s Out of Home Care Services 650 People volunteer with Anglicare 218 Clients assisted in Goulburn, Moruya & ACT 247 Anglicare College completions 551 Financial counselling sessions 1,426 Children attending Anglicare Early Childhood Education 5,352 Young people received clinical appointments through the Junction Youth Health service 689 People assisted across Goulburn, Yass and Eurobodalla 173 Retirement living residents 7,154 People received emergency relief assistance

  8. Where We Work Anglicare NSW South, NSW West & ACT works across 3 Anglican Diocese. Canberra and Goulburn Diocese Riverina Diocese and Bathurst Diocese.

Helping People in Crisis 7,075 people supported through emergency food relief 6,736 phone and face-to-face interactions with clients* 62 Young people supported through housing & education at ‘Our Place’ 593 people assisted with Housing in Goulburn alone Anglicare provides assistance to vulnerable members of our local community through emergency housing, homelessness support and food relief. We strive to combine crisis services with early-intervention and prevention strategies to help move people beyond day-to-day survival towards long-term independence and sustainable living.

  11. Long-Term Support After helping people through crisis, Anglicare aims to provide long-term support for people experiencing poverty. This is how Anglicare works to break the cycle of poverty. We call it the Survive and Thrive Approach. Long-term support services include programs such as: parenting support, playgroups, health care, financial counselling, mentoring, youth services and education pathways.

Stephanie.horne@anglicare.com.au Our Stories – Carwoola Bushfire How churches and Anglicare can work together to serve the community. • Earlier this year, 12 family homes and 45 buildings were destroyed in a disastrous bushfire. • Peter Bavington, a warden of Bungendore Anglican lost his home while working as a volunteer fire fighter protecting his neighbour’s properties. • Anglicare, with the help of Bungendore Anglican Parish were able to: • provide Disaster Recovery volunteers at the evacuation centre • provide meals and clothing to those who had lost their homes • arrange accommodation • provide pastoral care and ongoing counselling to those affected by the Carwoola bushfire.
