  17. DISTRIBUTION OF NEWIPO BROCHURE – Pasta for All Each IPO member country will invite/urge opinion leaders and consumers to download the new PASTA FOR ALL brochure at www.IPO.org (or member country website) . Widespread points of distribution are important because programs to teach families and children about healthy and enjoyable eating and drinking are most successful if all players in a community are involved.

  18. DISTRIBUTION OF NEWIPO BROCHURE – Pasta for All POSSIBLE DISTRIBUTION POINTS: On-package information Media blitz in IPO member countries Grocery store/food market information centers Physicians’ and dietitians’ offices (make brochures available, or inform clients about online brochures) Schools, churches, hospitals, clinics, day care centers.

  19. GLOBALIZE WORLD PASTA DAY Create plans to celebrate World Pasta Day annually in each member country to create excitement. Member country associations will execute the plan in their home country. Oldways will collaborate with IPO to persuade international organizations (such as the EU and the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization) to celebrate World Pasta Day annually in countries around the world.

  20. GLOBALIZE WORLD PASTA DAY Oldways will also create a World Pasta Day media plan to be executed in member countries. Oldways will also collaborate with current IPO Scientific Advisory Board members to promote World Pasta Day in member countries. Oldways will recruit additional Board members and other opinion leaders in this campaign to celebrate World Pasta Day annually in countries around the world.

  21. CHILDREN’S COOKING AND NUTRITION PROGRAMWITH PASTA AS THE CENTERPIECEPasta and Children Around the World CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE – PROPOSE TO: Develop a pasta-specific cooking and nutrition program for children, modeled after Oldways current “HIGH FIVE!” program. Pasta and Children Around the World will use pasta as the foundation for the curriculum, replacing the “HIGH FIVE!” focus on flatbreads.

  22. CHILDREN’S COOKING AND NUTRITION PROGRAMWITH PASTA AS THE CENTERPIECEPasta and Children Around the World CONTEXT – “HIGH FIVE!” Children learn about the history, culture, cuisine, ingredients of particular countries and regions and then learn to make the flatbread and accompaniments of that country. For example: Vietnam (rice paper wraps); India (chapatti and dal); Norway (lefse); Eastern Mediterranean (pita and chickpea salad); China (Szechuan bread); Mexico (tortillas and salsa); Mediterranean (bruschetta and paximadia).

  26. IPO Nutrition Science Forums GOAL: To update the Scientific Consensus Statement, based on newly published studies that reinforce it. 27. IPO Nutrition Science Forums OPTION 1: Scientists only Assemble a group of leading scientists for a 2-day scientific meeting. Possibly hold the meeting at the time of World Pasta Day 2008. Result: Updated Scientific Consensus Statement.

  32. SCIENTIFIC CONSENSUS OFFERS STRONG BASE FOR NEW IPO PROMOTION Develop new program to focus on specific health problems (i.e., diabetes) and pasta’s role in improving these health problems. Develop education programs for dietitians, for doctors, for nurses and other health professionals.
