One reader wrote, “JD Ludwig has written one of those old-fashioned, good guy verses bad guy stories that make you just want to stand up for something important. It’s a literary cross between Seven Days in May and Atlas Shrugged, a novel that some will call “reactionary”, some will call “fanatical”, and some will call “patriotic.”
I call it, “a damn good story”. It’s full of humor, and details about how the US military and the US Government works. It is full of fun, interesting, inspiring and despicable characters.
It is full of… well, life and honor, and standing up for what matters. Okay, I’ll sit down now, but read the book! Before a drone visits your neighborhood…”
If you haven’t bought the book yet, waiting for the kindle or iPad version, I hope you’ll consider giving Overreach a read. We will launch the marketing and PR campaign on January 16th so we need all the sales and reviews we can get before then.
While I can’t know who has bought a book, I can see who leaves reviews. As a small token of my appreciation for your support,
I would like to send everyone who leaves a review before January 16th an autographed advance copy of the next book in this series, Overreach- Blood of Tyrants, due out this summer.
Thanks again for all your encouragement and support, it has been a very exciting time and I’m delighted to share the journey with you.
Overreach: Blood of Patriots Review of the day by Michael Schreyer on Amazon "JD Ludwig takes his readers on a fast paced journey. The drama begins with a clash between a powerful president and his political opponents. The details of the struggle are laid out in a feast of gripping details.
Readers will enjoy the many faceted perspectives of the clash given by the characters who are engaged in combatting the overreach of power. Mr. Ludwig gives us a treat with this novel. We can only hope he has a sequel in mind."
Overreach-Blood of Patriots is now being promoted by Amazon... We are currently ranked #33 under the category Political Thriller for "New and Popular Books" slightly ahead of Glen Beck and two Brad Thor releases...This happened because of you! Our PR and marketing campaign won't even start until January 7, so this climb up the charts is all because friends, neighbors, and relatives...Wow, thanks again and Merry Christmas
Some readers shared with me that Overreach: Blood of Patriots is really scary because it's so plausible. One of my readers, Bill, an Air Force Veteran, shared a portion of Title 10 US Code that allows the president to use executive authority to suppress an insurrection, armed or otherwise.
It allows the president with the stroke of a pen to raise forces from any state or direct our own military to suppress an insurrection in another state. Pay close attention to #333 below, especially the quote "any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection..."10 US Code
§331. Federal aid for State Governments Whenever there is an insurrection in any State against its government, the President may, upon the request of its legislature or of its governor if the legislature cannot be convened, call into Federal service such of the militia of the other States, in the number requested by that State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to suppress the insurrection.
§332. Use of militia and armed forces to enforce Federal authority Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings,
he may call into Federal service such of the militia ofany State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.
§333. Interference with State and Federal law The President, by using the militia or the armed forces, or both, or by any other means, shall take such measures as he considers necessary to suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy, if it—
(1) So hinders the execution of the laws of that State, and of the United States within the State, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, orImmunity, or to give that protection; or
(2) Opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws. In any situation covered by clause (1), the State shall be considered to have denied the equal protection of the laws secured by the Constitution.
§334. Proclamation to disperse Whenever the President considers it necessary to use the militia or the armed forces under this chapter, he shall, by proclamation, immediately order the insurgents to disperse and retire peaceably to their abodes within a limited time.
So, this is pretty scary, yes? With a pen and a phone, peaceful protesters could be declared insurgents, by ignoring an order to disperse, the newly declared insurgents could then be subject to arrest, confinement or worse...
