A Proven Model of Success • Over 300,000 Aboriginal people have chosen Aboriginal Agreement holders to assist them in about 470,00 interventions since 1999 • Over 102,000 Aboriginal people have found work as direct result of AHRDA holders’ assistance • On an annual basis the Strategy helps 17,000 Aboriginal people return to work • Over 43% of clients find work or return to school following an intervention • Assisted over 28,000 Aboriginal youth in returning to school • On an annual basis, the Strategy helps over 5,000 Aboriginal youth return to school • On an annual basis, Ontario AHRDA’s access close to 10,000 clients, almost half are youth “In today’s global economy, talented, motivated and skilled people are the world’s most valuable resource.” The Challenge Ahead Averting a Skills Crisis in Ontario, Ontario Workforce Shortage Coalition, 2007.

  7. Wage Subsidy A six month subsidy for employers to provide on the job training experience. Summer Career Placement A wage subsidy program for Métis students. Culture-Based Development Grant Supports arts & culture-related careers or initiatives. Training Strategies Supports the development of labour market strategies for Ontario Métis communities. Mobility Assistance Helps individuals to secure employment outside their residence. Self-Employment Supports the entrepreneurial spirit of Métis. Training Purchases Funding clients who require special training. Apprenticeship Support A program designed to increase the number of Métis people in skilled trades. Employability Program Provides skills required to enter job market. Youth Programs Assists youth through internships, on the job training & innovative youth projects. Disabilities Support Assistance for persons with disabilities in their employment and education pursuits. Job Creation Partnership Employment that provide benefit to clients, community and/or local economy. Métis Business Development Ian Greening received a Métis Cultural Economic Development Grant six years ago and was able to open “Artistic Integrity Tattoos” in Port Credit In 2006 Ian won an award for one of his designs at this year’s International Tattoo Conference. There are now three full time staff members Ian is the first to remind everyone that he got his start because the MNO believed in his vision

  12. An Empowered Workforce In the summer of 2006, 11 Métis youths aged 18-29 from across Ontario went on a 14 day trip to Ecuador This project was a partnership with the MNO Education and Training and Canada World Youth
