  2. UW NetID • Personal Network Identification • NetID and Password • Provides campus level authentication • If you have a Uniform Access account, you already have a UW NetID • The UW NetID Services Web page

  3. New Web Servers • students.washington.edu • staff.washington.edu • faculty.washington.edu • courses.washington.edu • depts.washington.edu • New web site creation on Weber will be disabled soon

  4. Establishing Web Directories • Main route will be from the UW NetID services page • Driven by the authenticated account name • staff, faculty, students by UW NetID • depts, courses by supplemental account login name and password • Tools for migrating from Weber will be available

  7. Pine 4 • Now the default Pine on Dante • Available from the menu on Homer • becomes the default Winter Quarter • New features • access to URLs, integrated directory lookups, etc.

  8. Uniform Access Folder Move • Email folders on Homer and Dante moving to the deskmail IMAP servers. • Provides more visible folders for clients • Move will be transparent to most people • A couple of gotchas: • folders disappear if clients are set up to see collections directly on Homer or Dante • Unix commands will no longer work on folders • move_folders_back available if needed

  9. Computer Training Program • Now a participant in MS Authorized Academic Training Program • Offering courses starting Autumn Quarter • New instructor, new facility • See the Computer Training Catalog

  10. UW Internet Connectivity Kit • New features: • Internet Explorer 4, Outlook Express, PC-Pine 4, CRT Telnet • One disk for Mac and PC • $17 at University Book Stores

  11. Homer & Dante Default Quotas • Default Homer & Dante disk quota now set to 50MB • Global quota now set to 100 MB
