Immaculata University • A private, liberal arts, co-educational Catholic University founded in 1920 • 375+ acres overlooking the Great Valley in historic Chester County, Pennsylvania; • Approx. 20 miles west of downtown Philadelphia, PA • Fall 2005 - 1st Undergraduate co-educational class http://www.immaculata.edu

Immaculata University • Approx. 4,200 students in 3 Colleges offering associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees: • College of Undergraduate Studies – 906 students (Fall 2008) • College of Graduate Studies – 1137 students(Fall 2008) • College of Lifelong Learning – 2064 students (Fall 2008) • Completed Banner Implementation in 2007 • All modules except Human Resources (includes Self-Serve) • Reporting – greatest challenge following implementation

Overview • Our Goal • Sustainable, Value-Added Reporting Model • Value-Added:Where the value of the solution/report exceeds the costs/effort to implement/produce the solution/report. • Solution / Examples: • Argos (from Evisions) • Transcript Archive • Inventory of Reports • Account Look-Up • Admission Award Letters • Admissions Query • Labels • Web Registration Statistics

Our Goal • Sustainable, Value-Added Reporting Model • Centralized Report Repository • Deploy / Support One Reporting Solution …versus multiple reporting solutions such as: • Microsoft Access • Self-Serve Banner • Adhoc SQL Scripts • Ease of Deployment / Accessibility • Web-Based; Zero Client Footprint • Improved Security Management • Simple yet Granular • Replace “Default Role” Security (as is needed in MS Access) with “Proxy User” Security

Examples • Transcript Archive: • Custom solution developed in conjunction with Evisions • Features: • Search for a student • Add/Update a transcript memo • Retrieve/View the associated student transcript files in Adobe Acrobat • Implementation Steps: • Extract Transcripts from Legacy Systems • Use Formfusion product (from Evisions) to: • Convert transcripts to *.pdf format • Load transcript index information into custom table • Develop Argos report to search and retrieve transcripts

Examples cont… • Inventory of Reports: • Developed by IU; Available in Argos COOP • Accesses Argos “MAPS” database (MSAccess) • Provides information about each Argos available in report to the end-users • Ability to search by: • Production vs. Development reports • Argos “Folders” • “Key Words” • A formatted (“Banded”) report is available for hardcopy printing & distribution

Examples cont… • Account Look-Up: • Developed by IU • Report supports multiple areas of the University: • Help Desk Services • Portal Services • OneCard (Campus Card) Services • Campus Security Services • Library Services • Ability to search by: • ID, Username, Name, Birth Date, Term Code & Course Number (CRN), Employee Type • Displays image associated with user’s account (if available)

Examples cont… • Admissions Award Letters: • Alternative to producing letters through Banner Letter Generation Or Microsoft Word “Mail Merge” • Steps to produce Letter in Argos: • Select & Review Population • Loads recipients into the Banner Population Selection table (GLAEXTR Form; GLBEXTR Table) • Confirm & Print Letters • Populates the “Print Date” for the letter (SUAMAIL Form; GURMAIL Table) • A formatted (“Banded”) report is used to produce a the hardcopy, personalized letter

Examples cont… • Admissions Query: • Many Report Parameters – allow end-users to answer many questions • Results can be further manipulated in a spreadsheet, etc… • Labels: • Formatted & Personalized Mailing Labels for a specified population • Web Registration Statistics: • Graph & Totals display on the “Quick View” screen • Argos “Dashboard” module required
