  1. Adapting To New Systems In a world that changes constantly, especially in terms of the processes we introduce and follow, and certainly with regard to new, advanced systems that the workforce in most organisations is exposed to all the time, it is necessary to re-evaluate the way we manage our offices, our personnel, our assets – which include those pieces of hardware that we use all the time: the desktops, the laptops, tablets, and smartphones that we need to survive in a very competitive environment. IT controls almost every office function these days, and needs and requirements are constantly adjusted. This means that office managers may have to look at new ways all the time to ensure ongoing good practice in terms of how personnel and assets, such as hardware, are put to use for greater profitability, for instance. Most employees these days work on multiple devices and not only the PC as may have been the case previously. These different devices have to be managed properly to ensure they are utilized well and contribute to the overall success of the organisation. Bigger organisations, but not necessarily exclusively so, need to have good systems in place to manage such issues, and therefore a model such as DaaS – Device as a Service – is showing not only great promise in terms of managing devices in an office and across the whole organisation for that matter, but it is also reported to have brought relief for many companies and businesses. It is an important part of driving down a company’s costs while still offering great, even increased levels of access to the latest technology to keep on performing at the highest levels. The DaaS model is based upon the idea that a company outsources management of leased hardware – which many companies today feel is a great option – or those devices that you own, to a specialist service that is able to offer a good service whereby lease contracts and end-to-end lifecycle services are combined into one manageable contract with an experienced service provider. This service provider is a company with great knowledge and experience in terms of which businesses’ devices are managed on an ongoing basis. The service manager will evaluate firms’ IT needs – also with regard to the devices they use – and offer advice and solutions as to how these devices can be best utilized when they need to be upgraded, or when it becomes necessary to downscale. All of these processes are meant to help a business

  2. streamline its operations, to make sure personnel work effectively, to use those devices that add value and to replace them with newer ones when the time comes. This is a specialized service offered by some leading IT companies, and more and more businesses are starting to gravitate towards the idea of talking to one or more of these services. Such service becomes responsible for full asset management of devices and for scaling up or down the number of devices a company needs to operate at maximum levels and making adjustments according to the needs and requirements of the employees. As opposed to buying hardware devices, more companies now lease their devices from a good service provider, the one they employ to manage their DaaS requirements since a centralized process offers greater control and understanding of the business’s needs – also when devices need to be changed, upgraded or put out of use. The benefits of employing the services of a DaaS provider are obvious: your organisation’s devices are controlled under the watchful eye of one, responsible service that considers all aspects pertaining to the use of your devices; best practices in terms of standardizing both hardware and software configuration of devices; asset management; ongoing support and advice. A good, recommended DaaS provider takes the burden off a business’s tech department, leaving those employees free to add value elsewhere, where their skills can be better utilized. DaaS is gaining ground among many businesses, and those that approach service in this regard may actually find that, if they deal with a good company, they may be able to use this service for many other IT purposes too. Few successful businesses today survive without adapting to newer systems – such as DaaS.
