  1. Different Types of Orthopedic Bone Screws Bone screws are used to fix the fragments and are one of the oldest techniques that are used in fixing fractures. These units follow the mechanical principals which are quite similar to the screw that is commonly used for treating the bone fractures. Here are the different types of orthopedic bone screws that are used for the treatment of fractures: Neutralization Screws These screws are used to neutralize the forces that occur on the plate during plate fixation. Lag Screws These screws are basically used for inter-fragmentary compression. Reduction Screws You can reduce the displaced fracture by pushing or pulling the reduction screws. Position Screws These screws are used when you want to hold two fragments in position without compressing them. You can find a screw such as a syndesmotic screw to adjust the orthopedic bone in the right position. Anchor Screws These screws are considered to be a perfect anchor for wire or suture and are primarily used for the treatment of tension band wiring or ligament reconstruction.

  2. Locking screw These are used to fix the locking plates. However, when you are using this screw, its head comes threaded which can easily fit into the hole which is threaded and is available on the plate. This can also use this when you want to lock the ends in the interlocking nails. Cancellous Bone Screws These types of bone screws are commonly used when there is an issue in a bone with a long length. The cancellous bone screws are deeply cut, widely spaced, and are used for metaphyseal fractures. These can also enhance the grip of the bone which might be weak. Polar Screws The polar screws are quite similar to the locking screws as the medullar is wider and can be used to prevent the placement of nail and guide through the nail path. Well, these were the different types of bone screws that you would find with the orthopedic surgeon that are used for different purposes when it comes to the fracture treatment.
