  1. Simple Tips to Make Your Life Easier In Cyprus If you have successfully fulfilled the Cyprus citizenship requirements, you will soon be moving into your new home on the island. Make sure to keep the following things in mind so that you can make the process of moving and living in Cyprus an easy affair. Know the Laws Rule number one – know the local laws. Committing to something illegal and then claiming that you didn’t know it was against the law, is not a good excuse. In fact, it is not an excuse at all. You will be fined or sent to jail in no time. Learn Greek You don’t need to speak or write Greek as per the Cyprus citizenship requirements. English will help you live a comfortable life. However, it is highly recommended that you do put an effort to learn Greek. Why? Because speaking the native language helps you to connect deeper with the local communities, enabling you to truly become a part of the society. As long as you only speak English, you may just be seen as a friendly outsider. Driving If you are migrating from a country that strictly followed the traffic rules, then Cyprus might seem a bit weird to you initially. Back home, you would have stopped your vehicle at the red light of a pedestrian crossing but in Cyprus, a red light may not always be respected. Therefore, when you see the green light on doesn’t blindly trust it!! This extra precaution needs to be taken since Cyprus is a pretty relaxed place where some drivers tend not to give much importance to the traffic signals. Utility Deposits When you plan on settling at your new home, you will need to have access to things like electricity, internet, water, and so on. While such utilities often provide their connection for free to the locals, you will be required to pay a deposit since you are a foreigner. The deposit can go into a few hundred dollars. Even to get a mobile phone connection, you may have to offer a deposit. So, keep this in mind before moving into Cyprus. Winter Is Cold Being a Mediterranean island, you might think that Cyprus will have mild winters you can tolerate. You will be surprised to find that you are wrong on this matter. The winters often do get quite cold, especially at night. As such, it is a good idea to have an electric blanket ready so that you can deal with the cold temperatures. International Products Most shops usually sell only local products. You won’t find many international products in Cyprus. The only place you have a chance to get a variety of international products from a store is through stores like the Alpha Mega supermarkets. They usually stock some great international foods items and other things. Don’t really understand what it is meant by bigger products. In Cyprus there is a lot of import from various countries for a variety of big products like electrical appliances, cars, furniture etc.
