  2. Background • Rule 4.2 (b) – Pg 47 • What are the 2 Questions? And what types of penalties do they apply to? • Rule 4.2 (d) - Pg 48 (Pg 53 Pg 78) • MOTO • What does it stand for? • We must think of it as an equation, so it must be followed in order, for it to work correctly

  3. Examples • A#15 2 min 3:08 • Penalty Shot to B#22 at 2:00 • B22 scores on Penalty Shot • A#15 minor is not washed out. • B22 does not score on Penalty Shot: • A#15 minor is not washed out.

  4. Examples Team A Team B 2 + 2 2 • Team A will place a man from the ice in the penalty box to serve the extra minor. • Team A is shorthanded.

  5. Examples Team A Team B Time #8 2 6:20 #3 2 6:07 Goal 5:55 Answer: No penalty terminated and no player returns to the ice.

  6. Examples Team ATeam B 2 2 5 + GM+2 5 + GM Cancel penalties (majors first then minors) Team A plays one man short for 2 minutes

  7. Examples B8 – 2 min 4:00 A7 – 2 min 4:00 A9 – 2 min 3:30 B Scores @ 3:00 A9 Returns

  8. Examples Team ATeam B #6 – 2+2+2 #8 – 2+2 #10 – 2 All penalties are coincidental no time on the clock no players taken off the ice to serve penalties

  9. Examples B8 – 5 min 5:00 A7 – 2 min 4:30 B9 – 2 min 4:30 A Scores @ 3:50 No Player returns

  10. Examples Team ATeam B #6 – 2+5+GM #8 – 5+GM #12 – 5+GM+GM #10 – 5+GM+GM #14 – 2+2+10 #3 – 2+2+10 #1 – 2 #24 – 2+2 All Penalties are Co-incidental No Time Penalties In Box: Team A #14 & player for goalie Team B #3 and #24

  11. Examples Let’s look at the original question: Team ATeam B #7 – 2min . You report the penalty, the timekeeper puts it on the clock You return to the endzone and take up your position The 2 wingers push each other and come face to face, cursing. You now assess: #15 – 2min Unsport #8 – 2min Unsport

  12. Examples Correct answer Team ATeam B #7 – 2min #8 – 2min #15 – 2min . Team A – 1 man short #15 is on the clock and will return on goal or when 2 min is complete This means the timekeeper may have to change the clock, if the players number is on the clock, as #7 was originally on the clock. You will also have to make sure the timekeeper and players understand who returns. Do not leave it up to the timekeeper, you will be asking for trouble.

  13. Examples Any questions and/or situations from the audience
