  2. Introduction Hi there! I’m Daria. I joined this volunteer project for a few reasons. Firstly, I'm always up for making new connections and getting to know amazing folks from all corners of the globe. Secondly, I’ve always been fascinated by the lively atmosphere in Portugal and I’m excited to dive deeper into their culture. And of course, I want to do my part in this exciting project. My passion for different cultures and exploring new perspectives motivated me to apply for this opportunity. Nice to meet everyone! 2

  3. AMARANTE, PORTUGAL While volunteering, we resided in the charming city of Amarante, Portugal, where our volunteer organization AVENTURA MARÃO CLUBE was based. Amarante, nestled along the Tâmega River, is a picturesque town renowned for its historic bridges, captivating architecture, and vibrant cultural scene. The city exudes a tranquil ambiance, inviting exploration through its cobblestone streets lined with quaint cafes and artisanal shops. 3

  4. OUR ACTIVITIES Every day presented us with diverse activities to choose from. We mainly engaged in farm work, visited preschools, schools, collaborated with the elderly, and supported individuals with disabilities. These experiences varied widely, allowing us to immerse ourselves in different facets of community engagement. 4

  5. Inclusive Engagements: Empowering Through Activities We engaged individuals with disabilities through tailored activities like sports games, theatrical festivals, and educational lessons. Sports games promoted teamwork and activity, while theatrical events provided a creative platform for self-expression. Educational sessions were interactive, adapting to diverse learning styles to empower and connect with each participant.

  6. Nurturing Young Minds: Playful Learning at Preschools In preschools, we introduced yoga, games, and meditation to the children. Yoga sessions focused on movement and relaxation, while interactive games fostered teamwork and creativity. Meditation moments encouraged quiet reflection, teaching the value of inner calmness.

  7. Farm Adventures: Tending Crops and Animal Friends On the farms, we tended crops by weeding and harvesting vegetables, alongside caring for the animals. We cleared fields of weeds, picked ripe produce, and spent time feeding and nurturing the animals. These activities were our daily farm adventures, contributing to farm maintenance and bonding with our animal friends.

  8. Exploring the World: Interactive Lessons in Schools In schools, we led educational sessions about Europe and other countries using interactive games. These engaging activities aimed to broaden their cultural understanding through quizzes, games, and interactive discussions. Our goal was to inspire curiosity and appreciation for diverse cultures among the students.

  9. Organic Farm Freshness: Sharing Nature's Bounty We were involved in selling fresh vegetables and fruits from our organic farm. Our produce was cultivated with a focus on environmental care and quality. We offered a variety of vegetables and fruits, harvested at their peak, ensuring freshness and nutrition. Our goal was not only to provide customers with quality products but also to promote an understanding of the importance of sustainable farming and a healthy lifestyle.

  10. Supplementary Ventures: Lisbon's Workshops and Conferences Alongside our primary initiatives, we engaged in additional projects, including a business trip to Lisbon. This trip involved attending numerous workshops and conferences, offering opportunities for learning and networking. Workshops covered diverse topics, fostering skill enhancement, while conferences provided insights into various industries, enriching our experience.

  11. Language Support and Portuguese Lessons We had language support, including Portuguese lessons, to facilitate better communication and integration within the local community. These lessons offered us a chance to learn and engage with the local language, enhancing our cultural understanding and connections during our time in Portugal.

  12. Exploring Beyond: Embracing Leisure Time We had ample free time which we embraced by exploring other cities and savoring the experiences they offered. These moments allowed us to delve into the beauty of different locations, immersing ourselves in diverse cultures, and enjoying unique encounters. This leisure time was a cherished aspect of our journey, broadening our perspectives and adding depth to our overall experience.
