  1. Causes of Back Pain and How to Prevent it Suffering from pains in the back is not a joyful experience. There can be many different degrees of pain and many different causes. A back suffers from constant exertion and strain on a daily basis, even when it is not noticeable. As you age, your back gets more brittle and needs protected from the constant bombardment of every day actions. Back Exertion and Pressure Regardless of the cause of your back pain, it is usually not based off of one particular incident, as most tend to believe. Most back problems stem from long term usage and exertion. If you bend over a lot, lift heavy equipment every day, or even simply stand on your feet for hours; the long term effects can be damaging. Once your back finally reaches its threshold, pain will set in and other problems could occur. Not What You Do but How You Do It With long term exertion leading to back problems, it may not necessarily be because of what you do. It is about how you do it. For instance, lifting heavy items should be done by squatting down verses bending over. But most people go the easy route, which is also the natural response to a particular action. In addition, when you need to bend over; you should always form a bridge with your arms resting to absorb a good amount of the pressure so that it releases a good amount of it from the back. Its little things like this that can prevent back problems and back pain. Typical Back Problems Common problems in the back include pulled muscles, joint problems, and pinched nerves. As the back constantly moves, the cartilage in between bones can wear out or break down over time, leading to

  2. crackling bones and reduced movement capabilities. It can also lead to slipped discs and pinched nerves as the spinal cord moves out of place in a particular area. For muscular pain, constant stretching and compacting can lead to soreness or swollen areas. It can also lead to strained, pulled or torn muscles. Acute lower back pain is normally caused by damaged ligaments or muscles in the lower back. Back Pain Prevention Preventing back pain takes practice as your natural reactions and responses put a lot of pressure and strain on that area. This occurs because most people don’t realize the damage it causes since they don’t feel any real pain until it is too late. Try to get help with lifting heavy objects, while also utilizing your legs instead of the back to lift. Consider making it a habit to use your arms to absorb pressure when possible, such as when bending down for something. Also, make it routine to exercise your back with some helpful movements, just as you would for your legs and feet when you jog or walk. Always conduct a warmup session before doing any heavy or repetitive movement to prevent soreness from overexertion. When sitting for long periods of time, get up and rotate, as well as stretch your back to keep it properly in place and less tense. Presented By UFC Gym Sydney
