  3. Spring Training Course Content 1.Java Enterprise Edition 2.Enter the Framework 3.Spring Modules 4.Controlling Object Creation 5.Web Applications Persistence Support 6.Aspect-Oriented Programming 7.Integrating Other Frameworks

  4. Benefits of Using Spring Framework: Spring enables developers to develop enterprise-class applications using POJOs. The benefit of using only POJOs is that you do not need an EJB container product such as an application server but you have the option of using only a robust servlet container such as Tomcat or some commercial product. Spring is organized in a modular fashion. Even though the number of packages and classes are substantial, you have to worry only about ones you need and ignore the rest. Spring does not reinvent the wheel instead, it truly makes use of some of the existing technologies like several ORM frameworks, logging frameworks, JEE, Quartz and JDK timers, other view technologies.

  5. 1.The Core Container consists of the Core, Beans, Context, and Expression Language modules whose detail is as follows: 2.The Core module provides the fundamental parts of the framework, including the IoC and Dependency Injection features.

  6. Spring BeanFactory Container This is the simplest container providing basic support for DI and defined by the org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanFactory interface. The BeanFactory and related interfaces, such as BeanFactoryAware, InitializingBean, DisposableBean, are still present in Spring for the purposes of backward compatibility with the large number of third-party frameworks that integrate with Spring.

  7. bean definition How to create a bean Bean's lifecycle details Bean's dependencies

  8. life cycle of a Spring To define setup and teardown for a bean, we simply declare the <bean> with init-method and/or destroy-method parameters. The init-method attribute specifies a method that is to be called on the bean immediately upon instantiation. Similarly, destroy-method specifies a method that is called just before a bean is removed from the container.

  9. AOP with Spring Framework One of the key components of Spring Framework is the Aspect oriented programming (AOP) framework. Aspect Oriented Programming entails breaking down program logic into distinct parts called so-called concerns. AOP Terminologies: Aspect - A module which has a set of APIs providing cross-cutting requirements. For example, a logging module would be called AOP aspect for logging. An application can have any number of aspects depending on the requirement.

  10. Data Access Object (DAO) DAO stands for data access object which is commonly used for database interaction. DAOs exist to provide a means to read and write data to the database and they should expose this functionality through an interface by which the rest of the application will access them.

  11. Spring - Logging with Log4J This is very easy to use Log4J functionality inside Spring applications. The following example will take you through simple steps to explain the simple integration between Log4J and Spring.
