  5. Purpose of the IFCC • Serves as forum for discussion and consideration of issues of interest to program specific technical college faculty • Serves as informational resource • Serves as communication mechanism to: • Carries out specific work concerning state wide instructional policies and procedures • Carries out specific work pertaining to program standards and guides including development of proposed revisions to standards/guides

  6. IFCC Membership • Faculty • Full-time faculty members of credit instructional programs and developmental studies programs

IFCC Executive Boards • Meet annually with consortium-level chairpersons • Discuss specific program-related issues • Review suggestions/recommendations generated by consortium boards and/or state technical committees • Develop suggestions/recommendations to convey to CPS at DTAE central office

Consortium-Level Chairperson • Represents Consortia at the IFCC Executive Boards annual meeting • Works with local program faculty to: • Meets at least twice annually at the consortium-level • Discusses issues related to their program area • Reviews suggestions/recommendations generated by local program advisory committees

Consortium-Level Chairperson continued • Works with local program faculty to:(continued) • Develops suggestions/recommendations to convey to the IFCC • Develops suggestions/recommendations and communicate at IFCC’s annual Fall meeting • Elects Consortium-level chairperson to serve a two year term • Establishes action plans and agendas for consortium-level meetings

State-wide Program Group Chairperson • Meets annually with at least one faculty member from each college offering the program • Reviews suggestions and recommendations generated by local program advisory committees with state-wide program group members • Develops suggestions/recommendations for CPS at DTAE Central Office • Develops a program standards and guide update plan

Program Approval Process • Process Begins at: • Local level • Local procedures are followed • (Usually under direction of Vice President of Instructional Services) • Research: • Supporting Data: • Is program available at other colleges? • Explore DTAE Website • Consult other college faculties • Consult Advisory Committee members • Does research data support: • Industry needs? • Sound student enrollment population? Yes?

  29. When to Submit a Request for a Course Number • Developed a new course • Developed a new program containing new course offerings

Process Request • Access www.dtae.org • Select Index then the ‘C’ Link • Choose: Curriculum-Forms and Templates • Download the ‘Course Guide’ template • Save file/template to your PC before completing • Complete template with requested information • Email completed course code file to CPS as an attachment

  32. Benefits • Eliminates the possibility of having duplicate course numbers • Affords faster turnaround time to process request • Provides access to extensive repository of course offerings • Ensures the wheel will not have to be reinvented by the colleges
