  1. Guidelines for an Effective Group Therapy

  2. Group therapies are becoming more and more necessary in this current world with increased emotional and mental health issues.  Children as well as adults undergo a lot of trauma situations due to addictions, rejections, bullying etc. Thus, most of us are in need of good group therapy sessions nearby to get enough support from qualified therapists and some peers who go through the same kind of situations.

  3. Now, if you are a therapist, what are the ways in which you can make your therapy sessions more effective, if you are a member of the support group what exactly makes you stay within the group without falling out. There are certain tips to make the group therapies systematic, fun and effective.

  4. Let it be specific and closed: It is always advisable that the group therapy is specific, dealing with a particular problem. If all the members of the support group suffer from the same trauma, they tend to have a lot to share. And it is always better that the group remains a closed one, without much interruption of new strangers. When it is the same people all along, it's more comfortable and easy.

  5. Due respect for participant’s privacy: The group therapy must be strictly formal, like grouped together for a common agenda, thus there need not be the involvement of too much personal information and inquiries. The therapist might know a bit more about the member, but must not share it with others beyond the limit he or she wishes to share.

  6. Encouraging participation is fine, but never force: For the first few sessions of the therapy, some people may not be willing to talk or participate in any exercises. One could fairly encourage them, but need not force them to perform as it can be embarrassing for them. Be patient, give enough time, they will turn up eventually.

  7. Group therapy must be fun: Along with enough talking and sharing, there must be time for some games and group activities for fun, getting to know each other and strengthening the bond.

  8. Have a perfect schedule: It has to be made perfectly clear what the sessions are about like a module. Stick onto a time that is convenient for the members of the group and it has to be regularly scheduled. Frequent gaps and cancellations of the sessions will irritate the members.

  9. Conclusion A perfect follow up on all these important tips are very valuable in having a successful group therapy session with solid policies.  The best group therapy centers in Dubai and other parts of the world are upholding these policies as well as individual and group privacy, as matter of importance for the well maintenance of the whole support system.
