Sexual Harassment Prevention (SHP) • Sexual harassment is not to be tolerated in the Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Auxiliary • Annual SHP training is required in every flotilla
What is sexual harassment? • Interfering with an individual’s work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working • Sexual harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature
SEXUAL HARASSMENT IS PROHIBED • Unwelcome display or communicating of sexually offensive materials • Sexual harassment is based on perception
Flotilla SHP Training • Material for flotilla SHP training is available at DIRAUX • Discussion by participants of Sexual Harassment Prevention training, create greater understanding.
Report SHP Training • List of flotilla members attending SHP training are submitted on Form 7039 to FSO-IS • AUXINFO Attendance Report will provide information for quarterly statements by the CRC to the leadership.
Summary • FC appoints a SHP trainer • SHP training is recommended for completion by the end of March. • Elected officer serves as the facilitator in case of a complaint. • All members have access to the District Civil Rights Coordinator The goal is TEAMWORK

Informal Resolution • Filed informally in writing with VFC/FC or higher (format in AUX Manual) • Resolved to agreement (Resolution) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - • Written complaint and agreed resolution kept in flotilla file for one year (Confidential)
Time Requirements • FC/VFC (or higher) to resolve within 15 days • 15 days after the person becomes aware of the civil rights issue • FC/VFC may wish to contact CRC for process information (confidential) • Refers to CRC, if not resolved in 15 days
Summary • ZERO Tolerance • Informal Confidential Resolution • Resolution within 15 days • Lowest level officer responsible The goal is TEAMWORK
