  1. Using the Photo Album in PowerPoint 2003 Multimedia Services at The Citadel Updated 6/18/07

  2. Start a New Photo Album • Go under the Insert menu, down to Picture, and choose New Photo Album. • The Photo Album dialog box will open. • Under the Insert picture from: area, click on the File/Disk… button to choose the photos to add to the album.

  3. Locate the Photos • The Insert New Pictures dialog box will open. • Navigate to your photos. • Select the photos you want to use. (Hold down the CTRL key to select multiple photos.) • Click the Insert button. • The Photo Album dialog box will open, and the photos will appear in the Pictures in Album area.

  4. Rotate, if Necessary Choose Design Template Put the Photos in Order Choose Picture Layout Choose Frame Shape Click Create Button Add Captions Add Text Boxes Format the Photos

  5. PowerPoint will now generate the photo album based on your settings. This is a good time to save the file!

  6. Edit the Individual Slides • Add text to the introductory title slide. • Change captions, if necessary. • Add titles, if necessary. • Change slide background, if desired. • Change text color, if desired.

  7. Compress the Photos • Compression will reduce the file size of the photo album. • First, click on one of the photos to select it. (You should see the little selection handles on each corner.) • The Picture Toolbar should appear. (If the toolbar doesn’t appear, go under the View menu to Toolbars and then choose Picture.) • Click on the Compress Pictures button.

  8. Compress the Photos • The Compress Pictures dialog box will open. • Make sure the following settings are marked: • Apply to: All pictures in document • Change resolution: Web/Screen • Options: Compress Pictures • Options: Delete cropped areas of pictures

  9. Compress the Photos • Click the OK button. • A second dialog box may open, asking if you want to proceed with the image optimization. • Click the Apply button.

  10. Save the File… And, you’re done!!!
