  2. Training Workshops Disability Equality and Basic Communication Skills Training This one day workshop aims to help participants to understand some of the problems that disabled people face. It looks at: - Models of disability - Issues around disability and equality - Barriers to communication - How to communicate more effectively - Basic Introduction to Total Communication - Basic signing using Makaton

  3. Training Workshops • Basic Signing (makaton) • This workshop is tailored to the individual needs of the learners using basic signing through Makaton. • Workshops include: • * Introduction session to Makaton • * Core vocabulary – over 14 sessions • * Tailored workshops covering specific signs for specific users • These workshops include paper and DVD resources where required.

Training Workshops Total Communication Training This one day workshop aims to help participants to understand some of the problems people with a communication difficulty face and shows through the use of Total Communication how we can communicate more effectively. It looks at: - What is communication - How do we communicate - What are the barriers to communication - What is Total Communication - Practical use of Total Communication - Introduction to Basic Signing (Makaton)

  5. Training Workshops Introduction to Risk Assessment This three hour session aims to provide an introduction to the practical steps needed to complete a risk assessment. It looks at: - Defining risk, hazard and risk assessment - Explores the steps in completing a risk assessment - Provides practical exercises on completing a risk assessment This Session can be tailored to the learning needs of the specific group.

  6. Training Workshops Deaf Awareness Training This half day session aims to help participants to understand some of the problems people with a hearing loss face. It looks at: - What is deafness - The effects of deafness / hearing loss - Keys to effective communication - Hearing aids - Introduction to sign language - Introduction to finger spelling and practical signing skills
