  2. New Look for Access • Energetic new look • New task panes include Getting Started, Help, Search Results, and Object Dependencies.

  3. Open a Table in Design View and click on the new Smart Tags properties box. Now open the table and click on the smart tag next to the field set. New Smart Tags

  4. In Microsoft Office Access 2003, you can use the SmartTags property to add a smart tag to any field in a table, query, form, report, or data access page in a database. More Smart Tags

  5. Propagating Field Properties • In older versions if you changed a field’s inherited property, you had to change all the other properties by hand. • If you modify an inherited field property in Table design view, Access displays an option to update the property

  6. Backing Up a Database • You can back up a database to an alternate location and a different name • You can restore a database from the backed up copy if the medium on which you stored the original database gets corrupted

  7. Object Dependencies • If you click on View, Object Dependencies you are able to see if a particular form is dependent on a table. • The following illustration shows the objects use the Quarterly Orders query, and also the tables and queries that the query uses.

  8. Checking for Errors • Green Triangles are error checking options • Can occur with keyboard shortcut errors • Can occur with report is wider than paper • Can occur when a label is not associated with an control
