  2. ABOUT THE CCC • The Community Cycling Center builds skills and fosters personal growth through community-oriented recreational and educational bicycle programs and services.

HOW THE CENTER WORKS • Bicycles and parts donated from public, institutions and supporting businesses. • Staff, volunteers, youth and young adults in vocational programs repair bikes for programs and for sale in professional bike shop. • Partnership with local organizations to ensure the success of programs and service to people who can most benefit from services.

  4. Sustainability, self­sufficiency, recycling/reusing, and safety are trademarks of all programs and are central to the mission.

  6. GOAL • Transportation to anyone who needs it, and to encourage that transportation to be a bicycle!

  7. PROVIDE SALES/SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC • Full service used bike shop • Low-cost • Three-month warrantee • Accessories

  8. The Community Cycling Center Provides: • after school riding and maintenance/safety programs • summer programs for youth • full-service professional used bike shop • classes in safety, bike repair, commuting • riding program to get adults on fully-outfitted commuter bikes

  9. PROGRAMS • YELLOW BIKES • CREATE A COMMUTER • SUMMER RIDES AND CYCLING FOR SERVICE • BIKE SAFETY CLUBS • LEARN & EARN A BIKE • BIKE MECHANIC CLASSES

  10. YELLOW BIKES • first bike advocacy program in the U.S. • free and unlocked • available to anyone to use and then leave for someone else • program has grown into the Create a Commuter program to help satisfy need for people to own their own bike in order to be successful cyclists

CREATE A COMMUTER • first program of it's kind in the nation • helps low-income adults get a fully-outfitted commuter bike, complete with lights, lock, helmet, rack, rain gear and all the other accessories needed to be successful year-round commuters • program includes 5 hours of safe commuting and maintenance training

  12. Bikes Are Freedom The groundbreaking Create A Commuter program has been an important step in the lives of many adults trying to get back on their feet and/or pedals.

SUMMER RIDES AND CYCLING FOR SERVICE • summertime safety program for youth • rides go to points of community interest and places the kids help pick out • all rides begin with a safety/maintenance class and there is a safety check before each ride • at the end of the program, all participants earn a bike and a helmet • some sessions have a service component through Cycling for Service program • kids learn about giving back to the community, and doing it all on a bike

BIKE SAFETY CLUBS • youth bike safety standard. • Bicycle Safety Resource Centers set up as mini-bike shops in schools • Safety Clubs meet after school • participants learn safe riding skills and basic maintenance • walk up to any bike and decide if it's a safe bike to ride • participants earn their own bike, lock, and helmet!

  16. LEARN & EARN A BIKE • programs run in partnership with local schools and social service agencies • kids come to the CCCfor an extended period of time learning to fix bikes and earning one at the end of their service
