DRCR Network Overview • Objective: • Develop and operate a collaborative network to facilitate multicenter clinical research on diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema and associated conditions.
There have been 2716 subjects recruited for DRCR.net studies since the networks inception • 437 investigators have been certified for at least one protocol.
DRCR Network Overview • Funding: • National Eye Institute (NEI) • Sponsored cooperative agreement initiated September 2002; initially through December 31, 2008 • Competitive renewal request every 5 years • Renewed from 2009-2013 • Industry collaborations • Foundations (e.g. JDRF) • Unrestricted gifts
Priority Initiatives • Involvement of community-based practices, as well as academic centers • Collaborate with industry to facilitate investigations and pursue opportunities otherwise not possible and to do so in a manner consistent with the Network’s dedication to academic integrity and optimal clinical trial performance
