  2. Analyze Learners • My Unit Plan would consist of eighth grade children. • The lesson plan is intended for children ranging from ages thirteen or fourteen. • I expect to have some children with learning disabilities. That is why I would give more points for effort than ability.

  3. West Virginia Content Standards and Objectives • Media, Techniques, and Processes Objectives • Students will: • VA.8.1.1 select and apply various media, techniques, technologies, and processes used to express experiences and/or ideas.

  4. West Virginia Content Standards and Objectives • Elements of Art and Principles of Design Objectives • Students will: • VA.8.2.3 create two-dimensional artworks using a variety of elements of art and principles of design.

  5. West Virginia Content Standards and Objectives • Subject Matter, Symbols and Ideas Objectives • Students will: • VA.8.3.2 create realistic or non-objective symbols to communicate personal experiences.

West Virginia Content Standards and Objectives • Art History and Diversity Objectives • Students will: • VA.8.4.1 analyze and interpret the characteristics of artworks and artists from different periods of time, styles, and cultures. • VA.8.4.3 explain how time and place influence meaning and value in a work of art.

  10. Utilize Media and Materials (continued) • Day Two • Students will have one and a half weeks to turn in final piece. • The students will have something that represents their family member incorporated into their project.

  15. Require Learner Participation • The groups will be made diverse. • The groups will discuss their ideas, stories, family trees, and their final projects with one another after each due date.

  16. Evaluate and Revise • The students will be evaluated on whether or not they turned in their chart, their photograph, and had a story. • The students will also be evaluated on their art piece and how well they showed color, creativity, neatness, technique, and effort.
