  2. XI THETA OMEGA FOUNDATION The Xi Theta Omega Foundation was formed in 2004 by members of the Xi Theta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., to increase the commitment to the Arlington community with educational and scholarship opportunities.

  3. DEBUTANTE SCHEDULE • May 28th - November 19, 2011 • May 28th – Debutante Registration • June 12th – Mother / Daughter Tea • June 25th – October 1st – Workshops • September – Community Service Project • October – Debutante Graduation • November 19th – Scholarship Ball

  4. DEBUTANTE CRITERIA • Must be a high school senior during the fall semester of 2011. • Must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average. (Transcript or letter from counselor is acceptable). • Must not be or become a mother during the debutante process. • Must sell at least $1,000 in ads and/or tickets in order to be presented • Participants are required to attend workshops, meetings and practices.

  5. DEBUTANTE REQUIREMENTS • Participants must turn in the following items on May 28, 2011 • George W. Hawkes Central Library • 10am  • 101 East Abram StreetArlington, Texas 76010  • $550 Participation Fee • Must turn in two letters of recommendation from individuals outside the family (High School Counselor, Church, or Civic Organization, etc.) • Proof of grade point average – Transcript or letter from counselor • Completed Debutante Application • Complete a interview conducted by the Foundation on 5/28/11.

  6. DEBUTANTE FEE • $550 Participation Fee Covers: • Debutante Handbook • Workshop Presenters • Breakfast / Lunch during Workshops • Workshop Materials and Equipment • Debutante Stylist • Debutante Souvenir Poster • Presentation Ball tickets for Deb, Parents and Escort.

  8. DEBUTANTE MENTORING PROGRAM The Debutante Mentoring Program is dedicated to providing support for the young ladies that educate and motivate them during the debutante season. This program aims to plant seeds of social skills, nourished with etiquette and self-respect, in order to build our young ladies of today into confident, empowered women of tomorrow. Members of this elite group of mentors are women of the Xi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in Arlington, TX.

  10. SCHOLARSHIP POINT SYSTEM • Scholarships are based off: • GPA • Debutante Session Attendance • Community Service • Senior Year Scrapbook • Advertisements Sold • Tickets Sales

  11. DEBUTANTE BOOK AWARDS To be considered for a $500 Book Award, Debutantes must turn in at least $1,450.00 in advertisements/patrons/ticket sales. Debutante 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners are ineligible to receive a book award.

How to meet the $1,000 Goal You sold your Grandmother, Grandfather, Aunt and Sister ball tickets - $200.00 Ad Pages sold 3 Full Page - $375.00 3 Half Page - $225.00 2 Quarter Page - $100.00 3 Business Card - $75.00 2 Patrons Ads - $20.00 1 Donation - $5.00 = $1,000 Goal Competition runs May 28th – November 16th MEETING THE GOAL • EXAMPLE: • Ball Tickets $50 per person • Ad Booklet Full Page - $125, Half Page - $75, Quarter Page - $50, Business Card - $25.00, Patrons List - $10 • Donations

  13. SPECIAL DEBUTANTE AWARDS PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARD  Each Debutante who attends all of the seminars, meetings, and practices will receive special recognition. HIGHEST GPA AWARD The Debutante with the highest overall cumulative GPA for the six-week period ending immediately preceding October 24, 2011 will receive special recognition. MISS CONGENIALITY  The Debutante voted by her peers as most congenial will be presented with a trophy.  Voting will occur on October 19, 2011. BEST SCRAPBOOK AWARD The Debutante with the best scrapbook that covers the events of the Debutante process from May 28, 2011 to October, 2011, will receive special recognition.

ETIQUETTE INSTRUCTOR • Susan Huston Fashion Concepts was founded by Susan Huston, a leader in professional development and an etiquette expert with more than 30 years of professional experience. • Susan started her career as the creator and director of Dillard’s Department Stores charm schools. At the same time she was a model for the renowned Dallas-based Kim Dawson Agency. Her knowledge has been featured in newspapers from near and far as close of the Dallas/Fort Worth area to as far away as Germany. Her expertise has also been featured on Fox Television’s Fox Breakfast Time Anytime morning program NBC’s Channel 5 and ABC’s Channel 8 newscasts, as well as on the Channel 8 Good Morning Texas show. Susan is frequently quoted in the print media as well.

  16. OFFICIAL DEBUTANTE SYLTIST Mullykar Samrith is the founder and CEO of RUPC, a fashion styling company that helps people with their everyday wardrobe and specializes in special occasion attire. She works with men and women of all ages and sizes in choosing pieces that work best with their lifestyle and body type.   Mullykar has represented clothing lines in urban streetwear such as Apple Bottoms, Ed Hardy, Christian Audigier, Artful Dodger, and more. While at MAGIC, she has worked with celebrities such as Nelly, Mos Def, Jay-Z, Christian Audigier, and many others.

  17. CHOREOGRAPHY • Lisa Thompson is the lead choreographer and an Arlington resident with more than 20 years experience. She teaches social and cultural dance as director of Step By Step Studio of Arlington.  She has been an academic advisor at SMU and assessment coordinator for the UT Arlington.  Lisa is currently the Director of the TRIO Pre-College Programs at UT Arlington. • For more than 10 years, Lisa Thompson has been introducing ballroom dance and behavior as the choreographer of the Xi Theta Omega Debutante Ball.  Lisa Thompson is a proud member of the Xi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
