Scout, Jem, and Dill like to play outside together. Sometimes they play by an eerie house called Radley Place.
Boo Radley lives there. The three children are afraid of him.
Even though they don’t like him, Boo always leaves little gifts in a tree for the children to find.
Atticus reminds the children to be nice to Boo. He tells them that even though he is a little frightening, he is still a good person.
The white townspeople do not like Tom because he is black. They are very prejudiced.
However, Atticus wants to help Tom. He believes Tom is a good person.
Before the trial, the children sneak in the courtroom to watch.
Atticus believes Bob Ewell, Mayella’s father, is the one who violated her. Atticus thinks Bob is trying to make Tom look guilty. Mayella and her father, Bob
However, the jury believes Tom is the one who hurt Mayella, so they convict him. Atticus talking to the jury
Bob is angry with Atticus for making him look bad, so he starts to attack Scout and Jem.
Thankfully, Boo saw what was happening and protected the kids.
Scout realizes that people like Boo can be very kind, even if they are a little different.
Atticus was right. Scout learned that she should be kind and sympathetic toward everyone.
