  1. StandWeSpeak A 21st-Century Sexual Wellness Platform ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LGBTQIA+

  2. What does LGBTQIA+ mean? LGBTQIA+ is a broad term which can be understood with an acronym SOGIESC, which expands to Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity & Expression and Sexual Characteristics. Do not panic, this is to make things simpler for you. Under these broad terms fall the various categories. Society has made us believe that there are only two ways of looking at a human being – male or female & man or woman but here is a surprise for you, human beings are as crooked as the concept of perfection. Let’s try and understand.

  3. What Does LGBTQIA+ Stand For Lesbian: A woman who is attracted romantically and sexually to another woman. Gay: A man who is attracted romantically and sexually to another man. Bi-sexual: A person who experiences attraction towards the same gender and opposite gender(s), not simultaneously. They aren’t restricted to one gender Pan-sexual: A person who is attracted to all genders, regardless of their genders. Asexual: A person who has romantic attraction (to both same sex or opposite sex) but does not like to get involved physically. A-romantic: As the term suggests, people who do not experience attraction towards anyone, romantically. Questioning: Term used to describe people who are figuring out their sexual orientation.

  4. Gender Identity & Expression Shiva explains, ‘how people identify themselves as a man or a woman or sometimes both and sometimes neither, is his/her gender identity.’ Gender expression, on the other hand, is how you express yourself. Gender Dysphoria: People, who feel discontentment with their biological sex and/or gender assigned at birth, suffer from gender dysphoria. They fall under: Transgender: As Shiva explains, ‘Their brains do not agree with their body.’ There is a conflict between their biology and psychology. They might be born a male, but from inside they feel they should have been born a female and vice versa. Transsexual: They are the people who have undergone a sex reassignment surgery to change their body organs to that of the opposite sex. Transvest: People who wish to be of the other sex by simply cross dressing.
