  2. REASONS  AURANGZEB'S RELIGIOUS REFORMS  1- Reinstituted jizya tax on non muslims. 2-Destroyed hindu temples. 3-Enforced islamic laws. 4-Banned suttee (hindu tradition).

AURANGZEB'S WAR 1-Fought war against Rajputs. 2-Attempted to expand North (in campaign against NWFP pathans). 3-Numerous rebellions (Satnamis, Sikhs, Jatts). 4-The maratha war which was costliest. 5-All these wars resulted heavy taxes, and emptied the mughal treasury. Leaving the mughal empire in economic misery.

  4. AURANGZEB'S LOVE FOR LUXURY 1- Build palaces, spend huge sums on himself. 2- Build pearl Mosque for his own private prayer in Dehli.  3-Made him unpopular. Furthered economic decline.

  5. INDEFINITE LAW OF SUCCESSION 1- The dead mughal emperor's sons would fight for power. 2- He tried preventing this by dividing the empire between his 4 sons. Didn't work. 3- Muezzin was first emperor. Died. His son fought. In 10 years, 12 claimed the throne. 4- These war cost a lot. Weakening the economy. Many capable soldiers, nobles died. Left empire divided and weak.
