  1. What is an Entrepreneurial Mindset? In simple terms, an entrepreneurial mindset is thinking like an entrepreneur. It is a set of assumptions and thought process of looking at the world. Generally, most entrepreneurs believe that they can live their life on their own terms and make changes to improve life around them. They have a self-belief in their capability to learn, unlearn and relearn, grow and adapt to succeed in all the circumstances. There is a difference in mindset between an entrepreneur and a worker. For instance, a worker will mostly be concerned about earning extra income and looking for a better job. But, a person with an entrepreneurial mindset would always search for ways to set the best foot forward even if they are employed and contribute the best to your team. These skills help in building, contributing and taking ownership for the work that you do. The Importance of having an Entrepreneurial Mindset There is much power in owning an entrepreneurial mindset when you actually think about it. This is because most entrepreneurs succeed as they think and act quite differently from normal people. Their views about the world are quite different from others. It also provides you with proper focus in life. You will always be action-oriented and think about structural growth. In simple terms, an entrepreneurial mindset curriculum is the foundation stone for a young mind to be an entrepreneur. Experiential Learning In pre-schools and schools, we are still being taught “Z for Zebra” from a book. The Indian education system starts teaching abstract methods with a rote learning concept which has no way of verification. The purpose of experiential learning is to focus on the learning process of the individual. For example, observing and interacting with the animal environment in a zoo constitutes experiential learning, as opposed to reading about animals in a book. How does experiential learning work? It starts with: 1. 2. 3. 4. By doing so, a concrete experience is built in the real world. The learner makes his own observations They then translate these observations into abstract concepts. In the end, the learner applies the concept in real life.

  2. These above given steps provide the learner with opportunities to discover and build their own learning. Moreover, it helps them think independently, understand the concept and apply it. Students are taught to validate their learning with real world experiments. This is the foundation of scientific temperament that enables students to become critical thinkers and understand to separate facts from fiction. But this is not just relevant for budding scientists, practicing this technique will enable to build a mindset for lifelong learning and understanding the changing world. It is an important concept for budding entrepreneurs. Building Entrepreneurship Mindset through Experiential Learning Udhyam Learning Foundation along with Delhi Government has launched Entrepreneurship mindset curriculum for schools. Slowly it is finding its way into the school classrooms these days. This is a fabulous opportunity for students to get a perfect understanding of the hard work, commitment and time that it takes to build a business in the real world from just an idea. It is hard to predict the future and it is always better to create it. The teachers here have a huge role as they can help drive the change with encouragement and harnessing the spirit further in the curriculum. We need to understand that we are creating future entrepreneurs who will not only change society for the better but also provide employment to many. Entrepreneurial mindset builds self-confidence, self-reliance, self-belief and begins process-oriented thinking among individuals. This is a process through which many genius ideas can be turned into reality. Udhyam Learning Foundation has introduced this concept creatively through a very gratifying and engaging environment that comes in combination with high-quality teaching material and real life projects. Teaching these skills early in school life is absolutely advantageous for the economy too, but it needs special planning so that the theory and practical experiences are balanced. When we imbibe entrepreneurship at school level we foster an environment where children start thinking out of the box. Entrepreneurship at an early age When we integrate entrepreneurship mindset curriculum at a young age we are providing an opportunity for our students to acquire knowledge and polish their skill sets, change their attitude which actually influences their performance at school too and nourishes their talent. This knowledge will help them to understand where their interests lie. They will thus be able to hone their strengths and will possess a professional attitude in their work and society.

  3. They will be learning the art of selling their ideas and deliberation. They will understand the concept of team management and team work. In short, while they are on a project they will learn all of these from their own mistakes. Entrepreneurial mindset will fuel the need for research and development. It will give much needed technological breakthroughs in the near future.
