  1. 5 things you need to know about the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam In this article, we’ll cover five things you need to know about the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam, including what it’s designed to test and why it might be right for you. Before we begin, however, it’s important to understand what the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam actually is and who it’s intended to test, in other words, the requirements of the exam. The Importance of Passing AWS Certification Exams The AWS Cloud Practitioner certification exam is an important step for anyone looking to make a career out of working with AWS. Those who pass gain access to various perks and benefits as well as official recognition from Amazon. With that said, here are five reasons why you should take and pass these exams. As mentioned above, AWS Cloud Practitioner certifications come with a variety of benefits. You’ll gain access to discounts on various services from Amazon, and depending on how many exams you take and pass, your name may even be displayed in public listings for AWS experts. These perks and benefits of AWS certification don’t come without hard work, however. Many IT professionals pursue these certifications only to find themselves lacking in terms of knowledge. As such, it’s important that you do your research before setting out on your journey toward certification. In order to help with that, below are five things that no one tells you about AWS Cloud Practitioner certification.

  2. Who can take it? The AWS Cloud Practitioner exam is intended for IT professionals who want to get their feet wet in cloud computing. If you're just getting started with AWS, don't try and tackle it all at once: focus on one thing, like using S3 as a secure place to store your data or managing DynamoDB (Amazon's NoSQL database service). You'll learn more by tackling one task than if you try and do everything at once. There are plenty of courses available for each service on Amazon Web Services. There are also courses available that prepare you for both Associate-level exams. For example, there's a course called AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate 2016. This is a prerequisite for taking either of these tests. Once you've learned how to pass these Associate exams, then it's time to think about preparing for professional-level certifications. The first step is to decide whether you want to become an Associate or a Professional. The main difference between them is that Associate-level certifications are available for free and can be earned by studying on your own. This type of certification is useful if you're just getting started with cloud computing, but aren't planning on making it your career. In contrast, all professional-level certifications require a fee and an application process; they are only available for professionals who have already spent time mastering cloud computing technology. How is it different from other exams? The AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification is aimed at someone with a fundamental knowledge of cloud computing, including an understanding of concepts such as elasticity, redundancy, and scalability. As well as giving technical depth around Amazon Web Services (AWS), it includes business-focused questions that require test takers to consider how cloud computing can meet their company’s particular needs. The AWS Certifications are separate from those offered by Microsoft, Google, and others. So what is it that makes it different from other cloud computing certifications? Firstly, there’s no prerequisite of any specific number of years in IT or software development. This can make it easier for a wider range of professionals to get involved with cloud computing. Another important difference is that instead of providing a ‘cookbook’ approach telling you what to do and then testing your ability to perform it expects test takers to apply their existing knowledge, skills and abilities gained in other roles. How long will it take me to prepare for this exam? The time it takes for you to prepare for your exam will vary depending on your current level of experience and knowledge of cloud computing. It is a great idea to take advantage of sample practice questions that can help you estimate how much time you may want to dedicate. The

  3. Thinkcloudly has been gracious enough to provide some sample questions just for that purpose, so be sure to check those out here. You can also take advantage of our free sample quiz available on our learning portal. You’ll get a free question that is similar in format and style to your certification test so that you can use it as a gauge of how prepared you are for your exam. And don’t forget, there is a great deal of online documentation on each of these topics as well. If you are unsure of your level of preparation, be sure to go through that documentation thoroughly. This can help ensure that even if you miss one or two questions on your test, it won’t be due to a lack of basic knowledge. Also, if you find yourself struggling with a topic, be sure to reach out to our tutoring services. They can help answer your questions and fill in any knowledge gaps that may exist. Be sure to try them out before trying to tackle your certification test again! You’ll want all of your bases covered before hitting that Next button. Why spend so much time preparing for a test if you can get some help beforehand? You’ll be happier in the long run, and will likely score higher on your certification test. Just think of it as an investment in your future. All of these preparation options are available for free through our web-based learning portal: Thinkcloudly Learning Portal. You can always come back here to review content after your take a practice quiz or sample question. Is there a book I can use to study for this? The certification is brand new, and so are its resources. However, you can use a variety of sources to help prepare for it: blogs from experts in cloud computing, like Matt Ray’s; information available on Amazon Web Services (AWS) website; or any other cloud-related news sources or conference slides that may be online. If you’re interested in becoming an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, there are several factors that will impact how long it takes for you to pass. First and foremost is your previous experience with cloud computing. If it’s your first time around, you’ll have more catching up to do than someone who has already taken Microsoft’s Azure Solutions Architect or Google Cloud Platform Certification exams. Second, consider how much time you want to devote to studying each week. The certification exam costs $100 (USD) and is valid for two years after passing. You can retake it as many times as necessary within that time frame without paying again, which makes it an ideal way to build your cloud certification portfolio.

  4. In other words, if you plan on taking multiple exams, do them all at once instead of stretching them out over several months. If you want to be certified but aren’t sure that being a cloud practitioner is right for your career, consider starting with one of Amazon Web Services’ other cloud certifications, such as Architect or Developer.
