UK Traditional Dances May pole dancing and Morris dancing.
May pole dancing traditionally takes place on the 1st of May. • This year I took my family to visit the Maypole dancers.
The band plays music for the dancers. They use a violin a tambourine and two accordions.
The children dance holding the ribbons to make a pattern on the May Pole.
They skip around the pole twisting the ribbons and weaving in and out of each other.
Dancing with boughs of flowers is another traditional dance.
Morris dancing is another traditional dance. This is where groups of dancers follow certain steps. These dancers are using wooden batons.
