You plan your own schedule and make your decisions. Major in something that makes you happy. GE classes are important. They will give you insight into different subjects, perspectives and ways of life and learning. They are an essential part of a well-rounded education.

They have everlasting effects on every day that follows. All those things I heard while in high school & living at home hade much better sense once I finally graduated!

It’s better to work toward a degree that you will enjoy than receive a degree in a field that you will probably never be happy working in.

Mr. Lowe Art • Other Careers / Involvements • I didn't get involved with "college life" as one who was working to put myself through college and living off-campus. This is also why it took an extra year, as opposed to the standard four to get my baccalaureate degree. I also attended at a time when tuition and fees were much lower so I was able to get my degree debt free. • Advice • Get to know each professor and know when their office hours are, then "tap their brains." The expression "working smarter instead of harder" really begins to take form. The pace is much faster than in high school, so it becomes really important to learn ways to become more efficient, along with making use of ALL resources available.

I was the first female in the family to attend. For three generations, women in my family did not attend any type of school. I never gave up on my dream and neither should you. I have a college degree and three masters and hope to obtain another graduate degree in the near future. Never give up!
