What will my child be learning? Grade 5 Yearly Overview 5 units plus the exhibition Please send books in mother tongue that could support units of inquiry!! Integrated with other subjects
What is the Grade 5 Exhibition? • There will be a parent information session • Two stages • Inquiry Time (8 weeks) • Showcase- May 7th
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) exhibition represents a significant event in the life of a PYP school and student, synthesizing the essential elements of the PYP and sharing them with the whole school community. As a culminating experience it is an opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the International Baccalaureate (IB) learner profile that have been developing throughout their engagement with the PYP. Will my child go on field trips? Kizilsoypansionat, situated in Nevich village, Parkent district, Tashkent oblast. Overnight Retreat (September 19th & 20th) Supports Unit of Inquiry Supports Team Building and Collaboration
What homework will my child receive? • TIS Policy-5th grade • reads 20 minutes daily (minimum) • Average of 20 minutes a night • Students will write due dates in Planner • Mathletics (home-online) 30 minutes a week required. • Brainbenders (optional math enrichment-problem solving)
How can you support your child’s learning? Students should have a home language/English Dictionary at school. Books related to the units of inquiry in home language Have discussions about ideas, concepts and questions related to the inquiry. Share, listen and ask questions! Encourage reading and the development of talents! Attend parent information sessions ie. PYP and Exhibition
