  2. Introduction • Hello everyone I'm Reginald and he is Ricardo and we are going to talk to you about the war of 1812 and our opinion if it was necessary or not.

  3. Thesis • We believe that the war of 1812 was necessary because the war started from trading with great britain and france and war began against britains trained military forces

  4. Facts • In the War of 1812, the United States took on the greatest naval power in the world, Great Britain, in a conflict that would have an immense impact on country. • The United States suffered many costly defeats at the hands of British, Canadian and Native American troops over the course of the War of 1812. • The War of 1812 allowed the new nation to break free of its colonial past, and told the nations of Europe that a new player had emerged on the world stage.

  5. President of 1812 President James Madison was the president during the time of 1812. On June 18, 1812, U.S. President James Madison signed a congressionally approved declaration of war against Great Britain. As the bicentennial commemorations of the War of 1812 began, explore 10 surprising facts about the conflict.

  6. How It Began • The war began when great Britain wanted to make America’s trade’s restricted to only them. • How they restricted Americas trade is by sending the royal navy to nearly imprison the Americas trade system and restricting Americas desire to expand there territory

  7. What Happen During the War • American troops were able to repulse British invasions in New York, Baltimore and New Orleans, boosting national confidence and fostering a new spirit of patriotism (devoted love, support, and defense of one's country; national loyalty).

  8. The Aftermath • Many argue the United States lost the War of 1812. However, the conflict ended in American victory. Even though ended in hostilities, many of the issues that caused the war disappeared in its aftermath and not from the treaty signing (a formal agreement between two or more states in reference to peace, alliance, commerce, or other international relations.)
