General Information • Breakfast in classroom 9:00-9:20 • School day 9:15-3:27 (doors open at 9am) • General daily schedule • Inform office of any changes in students’ arrival or dismissal mode of transportation • Birthdays- Students may share a store bought treat, such as fruit, during lunch time.

  8. SPELLING • Words Their Way Spelling Program • Focus on spelling patterns • Approximately 20 words • Two week cycle • Test every 2 weeks • Home activities • High Frequency Words/ Word Wall

  10. WRITING • Daily guided writing groups • Writing: Narrative, Opinion, Informative/Explanatory (different times through year) • Apply spelling patterns used in writing

GRADING AND REPORTING Academic • ES- Exceptional at the Grade Level Standard • P - Meets the grade level standard by demonstrating proficiency of the content or processes for the measurement topic • I - In progress toward meeting the grade level standard. • N - Not yet making progress toward meeting the standard Learning skills • DEM- Demonstrating • PRG- Progressing • N- Not Yet evident

HOMEWORK • Assigned Monday – Thursday • Due at the beginning of the following day • Homework includes: • Math and/or Language Arts • Other subjects as necessary • Reading “Just Right” books every night REMINDER: Please encourage independence while children complete their homework. Yet, provide support only when needed to avoid frustration.

  15. PARENT NIGHT • One per quarter • Informal discussions regarding your needs, questions, and concerns (mini workshops) • Light snacks and drinks • Help plan fun activities while socializing with other parents UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!
